Small Sized Faith Can Move Great Mountains

“I am at a place right now where I feel as though my faith is being severely tested,” my friend said to me one day.

“What evidence of truth do you have to prove that is really the case?” I replied.

I had never witnessed my friend Susan (not her real name) in this kind of mood. She seemed withdrawn.

Her words were negative, which clearly indicated to me that her thoughts and her immediate frame of mind were also spiralling on a negative path.

Susan continued, “For the past eighteen months now,  I have  been praying and believing God for a breakthrough in my relationship with my boyfriend Tom, but each time I think that I am getting to that place, it’s as if God gives me the silent treatment. I am beginning to think that God hates me.”

“Don’t say that Susan!” I quickly responded. “God loves you and He wants what is best for you.”

“He is not a man that He should lie to you. He keeps His word on His promises and He will come through with the fulfillment of it in the time that He has appointed. Have faith in God, because I am a living witness that small sized faith can move some of the greatest mountains.”

His Ways and Thoughts Are Not Like Man’s 

So many of us today are like Susan in the way that we respond to our faith being tested and tried.

We tend to think that God is moving a bit ‘slow’ and so we either take matters into our own hands to force His or, we grow cold in our attitude towards Him and loose the momentum we once had.

And if we are truly honest with ourselves, when God makes a promise to us, we would rather that He skip the testing and trial of our faith part, and get right to delivering the package to us.

Signed. Sealed. Delivered. No time for waiting. It has to be now.

But that’s not how it works. True that faith without the evidence or the manifestation of that which you hoped and believed for in the first place is dead.

However, in between the time that the promise was made and the fulfilling of it, we will have to endure the refining moment, also called the process.

So many want the promise but would rather not go through the process because the process if often times very painful. The pain so great that we cry ‘real’ tears.

In our eyes it appears as though everyone else is moving ahead of us and so we tend to feel left out or left behind. However, here is what is written in James 5:11 (GWT) –

Keep Calm, Don’t Give Up! – Wait for the Promise

I fully subscribe to the words of Bryant McGill as stated in this quote below.

“There is a simple path to follow, that appears only when you calm your mind. It leads you on a beautiful journey back to your original self; the perfect, beautiful you.” ~ Bryant McGill 

Waiting is not easy I agree, but so much beauty can come in the end out of us waiting and trusting God. He knows the exact time when we are ready for each blessing that He promised to bestow upon us.

We may think that we are ready for the blessing when it was revealed but then there has to be preparation so that when the promise is finally fulfilled we know how to handle it and take the best care of our inheritance.

In that moment in time, it is evidenced that my friend Susan began to loose hope. She doubted the promise maker and so began to entertain negative thoughts. God’s promise again is that He will keep in perfect peace those who keep their mind entirely focused on Him.

He will not fail you. He will not leave you out in the cold. Just keep calm, pray, don’t give up! Wait on the promise, remain unwavering and steadfast because small sized faith have a way of moving the greatest mountains!
