Blessings From A to Z That Will Strengthen Your Marriage

According to the details outlined in a copy of a Teacher Contract, Term 1923 agreement posted recently by the Ohio Education Association (OEA) on their Facebook community page, there is no doubt in my mind that women in general have come a long way over the years.

Among the many things, women who signed such contract back then were prohibited from keeping company with men,  they could not ride in a carriage with men except it be her brother or father and worst yet, they were not allowed to marry.

While to some extent, there are societies today that still uphold such practices, doubtless, women have been liberated without the fear of retribution or punishment.

For women and men who have entered into marriage, you understand that marriage is no walk in the park and it takes a lot to keep your marriage together.

So in light of the foregoing, I thought it fitting to share with you some powerful blessings from A to Z from the word of God that you as the woman [or the man] can affirm or pray daily over your marriage that will not only strengthen, but help to keep your relationship intact for a lifetime.

Adoration and affection

“My beloved is mine and I am his. ” – Song of Songs 2:16 “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.” – 1 Peter 4:8

Being married is not a definition of perfection, but a unification of two sinners already saved or seeking salvation later on in life through God’s amazing grace.

And so, since we are not perfect, there will be times that a husband or wife will mess up and fail each other. Remember the power of love and how loving each other deeply, can cover all the sins of each other.

Belief

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household.” – Acts 16:31

No man can save himself. Only God can save. Put your trust and hope in God alone. When problems arise,  and things seem to be falling apart, look up! Look to God who answers prayer.

Commitment

Though one may be overpowered,  two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. ” – Ecclesiastes 4:12

By far, two is stronger than one. Imagine how much stronger you are when you are unified with God. The three cords represent a husband, wife and God. All together,  you are not easily broken.

Discernment

“And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more;  with knowledge and all discernment,  so that you may approve what is excellent,  and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ.” – Phil. 1:9-10

Not everything that comes your way, whether in though,  word or an action will lead to the best possible outcome,  or is healthy for your marriage.

Therefore,  you must rely on God to give you discernment and the knowledge to choose and engage in that which is excellent and pure so that at the end of the day you are without blame.

Encouragement

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs,  that it may benefit those who listen.” – Ephesians 4:29

Be the source of encouragement to each other and speak words that will edify, lift and strengthen. Refrain from using derogatory comments that hurt and inflict emotional pain.

Forgiveness

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,  as God in Christ forgave you.” -Ephesians 4:32

Be quick and willing to forgive each other in love. That is necessary so that God Himself can forgive you for your wrongdoing.

Friendship

Two are better than one…if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. ” Eccles 4: 9-10

It goes without saying that you know who your friends are when trouble or sickness comes. In the case of marriage, who better to be there for you than your spouse.

Faithfulness

Let love and faithfulness never leave you;  bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.” – Proverbs 3:3-4

Here is a blessing that encourages and enhances faithfulness every step of the way in your marriage. You both made a vow to remain true to each other and to love until separated by death.

Gentleness and Grace

“Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness,  with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” – Ephesians 4:1-3

“Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” – Col 4:6

Marriage is honorable and it is a high calling as ordained by God. If a husband and wife walk in humility, are gentle and patient with each other, and are tolerant of each other in love, there will be far less room for conflict,  argument and confusion.

Exercise grace in your conversations and remember a soft answer turns away wrath.

    • Hi Ikechi,

Great seeing you again. You made such a valid point, yes indeed a marriage built on God’s word with prosper. It’s like His word says, except the Lord build the house, he that labour (on his own) is labouring in vain.

It is very important to surrender our relationship and our marriage to God and let Him have full control. In that way, we can never go wrong.

      Have a great weekend.
