GOD The Father, JESUS The Son And The HOLY SPIRIT

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word [Jesus] and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. (1 John 5:7)….for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 1:20b)…..And Jesus when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water:………and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon him. (Matthew 3:16)…..Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. (Matthew 4:1)

From these brief passages of scriptures, we gain great insights into the work of the Trinity Godhead and we learn that all three God [The Father], Jesus the Word [Son] and the Holy Ghost are all one. They work in unison and one do nothing without the other. Even at the beginning of creation, we witness a corporate meeting and a divine consultation taking place and a divine transference of God’s DNA (Divine Nature Applied) and spiritual genes of the Godhead, our Creator. “And God said, Let us [plural] make man in our image, after our likeness….(Genesis 1:26)

Now digging deeper into this word, we gain an even greater understanding into the work of the Spirit in the life of Jesus. From the very beginning of His history here upon earth as Emmanuel, God with us, the Holy Spirit was fully involved. That’s right! How? Well so glad you asked. When Jesus was conceived in the Virgin Mary, her conception was not of man’s doing, but of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus identified Himself with sinful humanity through Him being baptized by John the Baptist, the Holy Spirit was again at work. When Jesus was about to commence His public ministry, it was again the Holy Spirit of God that came upon Him for authentication and empowered Him to go forth to do the will of God [The Father]. The Son did nothing without the Father, much less the Holy Spirit upon whom He was totally dependent for the working of miracles, teaching, preaching, so and and so forth.

The bible, the greatest book ever written records for us, “The Word [Son of God the Father] was made flesh [human form] and dwelt among us..(John 1:14) He came to earth as a servant. He was no ordinary servant considering how He had just relinquished any claim and lay aside the independent exercise of His ordinary Deity. He [Jesus] made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a servant.” (Philippians 2:7) proving the point again that He would serve in dependence upon the Spirit. Jesus’ ministry would not be of man, even of Himself the perfect man, but of God.

In this final impartation, when Jesus went forth from His baptism to fulfill His calling, the Spirit was still fully engaged in His life, as He was led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. Here we see Jesus in total obedience and though being equal with and one with God, He did not rely upon His own divine omniscience (His perfect and complete knowledge) and led Himself into the wilderness, but He trusted the guidance of God’s leading through His Holy Spirit.

What are the implications for us  then, now that we have been given these glimpses into the work of the Spirit in Jesus’ life? First, just as the Holy Spirit had to be working for Jesus to be birthed here on earth, so it is that the same Holy Spirit of God had to work for us to be born into the family of God. No matter what anyone may say to you it cannot be by any other means, not by good works, and not by speaking with tongues of men and of angels! I reiterate, being born again into the family of God must be by the working grace of the Spirit.“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” ~ John 3:5

Secondly, just as the Holy Spirit was active in the ministry of Jesus, so it is the Spirit of God must be the one who brings us spiritual validation and power in our service to God. “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit.” ~Zechariah 4:6

The third and final implication that I leave with you today is that just as Jesus looked to the Spirit to lead and guide Him through His life, we also need the same work of the Spirit in our life here on earth. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” ~ (Romans 8:14)

PRAYER OF FAITH
Father God, thank you for the new birth by your Holy Spirit and for bringing me into this new way of life in you. Baptize me afresh and lead me into paths of righteousness, empower my life to serve you and to serve others just as Jesus your Son did. Let your Holy Spirit be the strong man in my vessel each day. I admit that I am in total need of this kind of work of the Holy Spirit in my life everyday, without whom I can do nothing. Thank you Lord, as I believe that I have received that which I have prayed for in faith in your name, Amen.
