Enjoy The Little Things In Life

As we approach the final days of 2020, it is admirable that we all take a moment to do some introspection and reflection, but above all, that we take a moment to enjoy the little things in life that we had the opportunity to experience this year. Appreciate your family. Reach out to them and let them know how much you love and appreciate them. Be grateful for what you have left and look forward to what you would gain in the upcoming months and years!

No, I ignorant to the deep-seated pain, loss and grief that many have suffered whether through the loss of life of family members and friends, loss of their jobs and subsequently their income and health insurance, loss of their home/roof over their head after being evicted, just to mention a few. Yet in the midst of all this, I encourage you to take a moment to give thanks to Almighty God and to enjoy the little things in life. Regardless, life remains beautiful! God is life and He is the giver of life!

For me personally, while I am still regaining strength [physically, spiritually and emotionally] that would allow me to forge ahead and embrace what 2021 have in store for me, I take this moment to enjoy the last Monday of 2020. Today I am most grateful to God who kept me through the storms and all the changing scenes of life.

Like many, I have been through much this year. No I did not [thankfully] contract Covid19, but on another level, I experienced things that many would not be able to endure and would possibly “die” from. In my heart I wanted God to take away my ‘thorn’ but He did not. Instead, I experienced His abounding grace and favor on my life.

Through the many lock downs of the pandemic, my service was needed and I still had to push through and go to my job. Lives depended on me. There were times I secretly wished my line of work was different and that I had the opportunity to shelter at home/shelter in place. But that was not the case, I still had to push through and go to my job. I could not quit even when I wanted to. It is easier said than done to ‘adjust to a new normal.’ I probably never will!

There are a few things I learned these past months – most people have their own trials but are very good at putting on the mask of ‘make believe I am happy’ to everyone else; people are too busy doing their own thing to have time to bother with anyone else; through the many rough patches and rock bottom, I carefully noted the ones who truly care about me and the ones who did not; I realized I am not good at competing with anyone else other than myself – competing with myself meant that I could take my time and work on the things that did not measure up and trust God to fix the brokenness that was detected in my body, spirit and soul. It is okay to take a break from ministry and not have to account to anyone else but God.

No matter what, life happens but life is sweet and it is worth the while to enjoy every moment of it. Enjoy the little things in life!
