The Wait Is Over | It Is Time To Soar

The Wait Is Over

It is a known fact that a plant blooms best after it is pruned! Pruning removes dead leaves and branches. It allows the once obscured and hidden parts of the plant to receive the much needed sunlight, so that it can bring new growth and life into existence.

Just like the plants, as children of God you and I will go through seasons when pruning becomes necessary. Your plans will be suddenly interrupted! Your daily routine will take a tailspin as God begins the process of cutting away the dead areas of your life.

As painful as that may be, you have no choice but to let go so that you are better positioned to receive what God has in store for you.

John 15:1-2 (GNB) Jesus uses a gardening metaphor to demonstrate the pruning process and the significance of withdrawing the strength that we need from Him. He says, “I am the real vine, and my Father is the gardener. He breaks off every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and he prunes every branch that bear fruit, so that it will be clean and bear more fruit.”

The truth be told however, being creatures of habit, many people suffer much more pain, hardship and spiritual warfare than necessary. Not only is the pruning process resisted but there is a tendency to move at a snails pace with little to no action to let go of those things that are already dead.

In denial of course, not accepting reality and crying over the ‘coffin’ hoping for a revival and a return to life of that which is already dead – you wait for a God-move when truth be told, God is waiting for you to move!

Pruning Will Expose The Core

Something very interesting took place a few weeks ago. I had a romaine lettuce in the refrigerator and the idea came to me that it was about time I used it since it had been sitting there for a long time. At no time did it cross my mind that the lettuce was not good. Why? The leaves were not wilted. The lettuce looked just as leafy, firm, crisp and healthy as I had purchased it from the supermarket.

I held it under the running water to wash it and then I began to peel apart the outer leaves. The shock or rather the disappointment came when I got to the core! The heart of the lettuce was black!  The inner leaves covering the core were wilted and soft to the point of being mushy, and not fit for consumption.

My disappointment of not being able to partake of what is generally the sweetest part of a romaine lettuce was immediately drowned by the voice of the Holy Spirit who said to me, “Yvonne that is exactly the way some people are. They look extremely good on the outside. Their words are enticing but when you prune the outer layers and you get to the core of their heart, it is evil, sinful and there is no good on the inside.”

What else can we learn from this?

A wise farmer will not have his produce sitting around for such long period to the point of spoilage, and neither will he allow his plants to grow wild and out of control. His desire to see his crops grow the best fruits will lead him to take all the necessary steps possible to cut away every dead branches. At times, his pruning will take him to the core of what’s causing his plants diseases and preventing them from growing.

Similarly, God’s pruning will come at a time when we are at a point of great trials and difficult circumstances. His pruning will not only result in growth, but brings revelation in the present moment to expose sin, idols and everything else that is in our hearts that has absolutely nothing to do with God or our spiritual journey. It is not until idols are exposed and we repent and turn away from them that spiritual growth can take place.

Pruning no doubt leaves you feeling sore, weak, vulnerable and in a place waiting on God’s healing power to manifest in your life. It is in that vulnerable place that the enemy often comes with thoughts of defeat, doubt, self condemnation and you start losing momentum. You believe his lies that you are to be blamed. But do you stay there?

Cheryl Wood, International Keynote Speaker and Women’s Empowerment Champion is quoted as saying “Part of maintaining momentum is to eliminate negative self-chatter. You must shift your internal dialogue and redirect your self-talk to reinforce that you have what it takes to do whatever you set your mind to, even when it’s not easy.” (source)

Soar Into Your Destiny

Today,  I challenge you to get up out of that place of defeat! I want you to know that ‘the wait is over, it is time for you to soar!’ Soar into your destiny! Flap your wings and begin to fly like the Eagle!

“…don’t allow the mindset of a chicken to hold you back. You can only soar like an eagle when you start acting like one.” Doug Dickerson (source)

Allow the wind of change and transformation to blow and lift you far above and beyond into the new horizon where blessings, abundance, peace and prosperity abound!

Like the Apostle Paul says in Philippians 3:7-8 [paraphrase] All the things he lost that he once thought were profitable to him, he now reckon as loss for Christ’s sake. Not only those things, but he acknowledges everything to be a complete and total loss because the surpassing worth of knowing Christ is deemed to be far more valuable when measured against what he lost. He says what he lost can only be classified as mere garbage.

What have you lost in recent times that you are still grieving over? What are you holding on to that God is telling you to let go of? Are you feeling stagnated at a place with diminished or lost hope of getting out? Are you living in the prison of people’s opinion?

I must tell you, if you are that person who is constantly waiting around for folks to validate you and to pity-pat you on your back, then your dream of greatness is already DOA (Dead ON Arrival)

Truth is, folks do not go out of their way to make you feel any better than they are feeling at the moment – they will always try to impose their emotions upon you to make them feel better about themselves.

What is God saying about you?

Musings & Affirmations

God’s word for you is clear. In Isaiah 43:19 He says, “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Now, dry your tears! Hold your shoulders square, lift up your head high and look to Jesus who is the author and finisher of your faith. Watch for the new thing that God is getting ready to do in your life. Repeat these affirmations

  1. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus
  2. I am unstoppable
  3. I can do all things through Christ who equips me and give me strategies to win
  4. No dream is beyond my reach
  5. My dreams of success and greatness shall manifest
  6. Greatness is on the inside of me
  7. I have victory in every circumstance that I face
  8. I dwell in the realm of abundance
  9. God’s power is at work in me
  10. I am purpose driven
  11. My ground is fertile and I bring forth life
  12. I establish the fact that I am unique and one of a kind
  13. The universe responds with positive vibrations to my originality

Now, no more setbacks! No more stagnation! The wind of change is already blowing and it can only get better from here on. Step out in faith! LIBERATE yourself! Dust off your dreams! The world awaits your arrival! Give flight to your wings! No more chains and no more shackles! No more set backs! It is time for you to SOAR!

Thank you for your uplifting articles. I recently suffered from rejection after finding out about my spouse’s 5years of infidelity and subsequent marriage break down. I have drawn closer to God and meeting up on your articles have given me strength to heal and look forwatd to move on by Gods grace!

    • Hi Antoinette,

You are so welcomed here at KAEM! Even more appreciative that you took the time to comment. It’s a blessing to hear how this article left you empowered and has given you strength to move on in the grace of God. There was a time I thought of rejection as a curse until one day the light bulb illuminated in my heart through the word that I am the accepted and the beloved of God, I am the apple of His eyes and that God will give men up to rescue me. Rejection is not your issue nor is it an indication that something must be wrong with you. Instead, it signals you are shifting into a new realm in God where those who rejected you are not yet ready to go where God is taking you. So SOAR on! Soar HIGH!
