6 Powerful Prayer Mantras That Brings You Victory

Powerful Prayer Mantras

The Bible is packed with wisdom, principles and strategies for practical everyday living. It is God’s blueprint for our lives. It is very insightful and it goes beyond what I consider to be the best go to resource for when you need solutions to problems or situations that you face at any given time.

There are mantras of hope, encouragement, faith, strength and protection, just to mention a few. One area that really stands out, providing us with the best mantras and model prayers for victory are those found in the book of Psalm. Let’s look closely now at Psalm 86 where David not only pleaded his cause to God but he received God’s comfort and assurance of victory over his enemies.

1. Approaching God with the right attitude gets His attention.

The Psalm begins with David’s humble expression of helplessness and his request for God to lend him a listening ear. He knew that his effort would be in vain if he did not have God on his side backing him up. Too often we go before God to pray and our attitude and posture before Him is one of entitlement, forgetting as well that without faith in God it is impossible to please HIm.

“Hear me, Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.” – Psalm 86:1 (NIV)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come before you in no other name but the name of Jesus. I acknowledge your sovereignty and that without you, I can do nothing. On my own, I am weak and helpless. Incline your ears Lord as I plead my cause and wait on your instructions on the way I should go, amen.

2. God is my protector and defender

God’s promise is to guard and protect the lives of those who remain faithful and trust in Him completely. There is no need to fear because the Bible teaches that there is more on our side who are with us than those that are against us. God ensures the safety of His children.

“Save me from death, because I am loyal to you; save me, for I am your servant and I trust in you.” – Psalm 86:2 Good News Translation (GNT)

Prayer: Lord thank you for preserving my life and for your divine protection each day from danger seen or unseen. My trust and confidence is in you. You are the God of my salvation – save me from my enemies and the jaws of death. Thank you in advance for victory. Amen.

3. God is merciful and compassionate

David was a man after God’s own heart. He loved the Lord dearly, and even though God loved him even more, David was constantly in difficult situations. Many death attempts were made on his life which meant he was ever in need of God’s mercy, compassion and protection. Many of us can identify with David’s situations. It is the same way then we must look to God for His new mercies each day. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning….” – Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV

“Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily.” – Psalm 86:3 (KJV)

Prayer: Lord thank you for your unfailing love and your mercy that is new every morning. Thank you for being gracious and compassionate. When the shadows of death encompass round about me, I thank you for being my Rock, my defender, my shield and hiding place. Amen

4. In God there is joy and gladness which gives me strength

In times of sadness and discomfort, they that turn to Him shall find gladness of heart. There is no disappointment to those whose hope is in God. David was never disappointed by God. God kept His word to David who proclaimed that in God’s presence, there is fullness of joy and pleasure at His right hand forevermore. (Psalm 16:11)

“Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you. – Psalm 86:4 (NIV)

Prayer: Lord I lift up my soul unto you. In you I put my trust. Let my heart rejoice and be glad in you each day. Amen

5. God’s love is steadfast and He is forgiving

God’s love is absolutely amazing! There are times we are going through difficulties in life and we tend to get that feeling God is far away from us and He doesn’t understand or even care. There are other times that we get involved in things we should not and the enemy (devil) would try to make us feel guilt, shame as well as he tries to play on our mind whispering lies that God will not forgive us. Far from the truth of God’s true character, because indeed God’s love is unconditional, He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from unrighteousness.

“For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.” – Psalm 86:5 (ESV)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for your unfailing love and the knowledge of your word that there is nothing that shall separate me from your love. Thank you for your heart of compassion and your forgiveness for all my wrong doing through the shed blood of your Son Jesus. Thank you for restoring me back unto the path of victory. Amen

6. God teaches and He gives wisdom and discernment

The ways of the Lord are perfect and we can never go wrong when we follow them. God’s Holy Spirit is there not only as our Comforter but our Teacher and Guide. God’s perspective is different to the way we tend to see things so it is always best to trust in God and do good according to His word rather than to lean to our own understanding and end up making choices that we live to regret.

“Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me a undivided heart, that I may fear your name.” – Psalm 86:11 (NIV)

Prayer: Lord teach me your statutes that I may walk in truth and integrity. I ask you for godly wisdom and not the wisdom of man. Increase my level of discernment that I may know the difference between what is right and pleasing in your sight according to your word and what is not.

Talk it over.

Trust that this article has been a source of strength and encouragement for you.

Did this post resonate with you in any way? Which mantra are your struggling with the most to accept or believe?

I will go first 🙂 – Many years ago in my early walk with God, I struggled a lot with believing that God loved me much less had forgiven me of my sins. I carried the burden of guilt and shame for a long time until I got the revelation that while God hates sin, and sin is what separates us from Him, He loves us unconditionally to the point where He sent Jesus Christ to die in our place on Calvary’s cross. It is through the blood of His Son that we are washed clean, robed in His righteousness and redeemed from the curse of the law.

Your turn…
