The Hem Of His Garment Is Just A Touch Away
“For she said within herself, If I may but touch the hem of his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.” (Matthew 9:21-22)
It is part of our natural human tendencies to go in search of the things we need, when that which we are searching for is right there within our reach. We can go on and on, look high and look low and still not realize our blessing is right there within our reach. I am sure like me, you must have searched for something and when you have looked everywhere you suddenly catch a glimpse of it and you go, “but look the thing right there!” The occasion for the woman in this bible story was no different. She was in search of the one who she was confident had the key to making her whole again.
Her search had gone on for twelve long years and no doubt she must have become weary with her search, yet she never allowed the noise of the crowd on that day to stop her. Having gone to so many physicians before and not receiving the healing they had promised her, no doubt, she was determined as much as she was desperate. She had a made up mind! The outcome she desired, was that she be made whole.
