The Power Of Love You Just Cannot Resist

red-rose-1347966854SDsLove is real! God is the only source of that real love and it cannot be changed. Love is who God is, it is His character. He gives mercy as an expression of His love. Everything He has done for us in the past, anything He does for us today or hope to do in the future, it is from His heart of love. Love beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Love never fails! Read (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

The greatest demonstration of love comes when you willingly lay down your life for someone, without ever second guessing yourself. It becomes your mark of identification, first as an example of Christ and then as a one of His disciples.

“Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you…” ~ John 15:13-14

It is hard to imagine what the world would be like without that dominance of God’s love permeating the heart and lives of His people. It is what I call the power of love you just cannot resist!  And so with the kind of power as it emanates from love, let us be encouraged to do as we’ve been commanded.

Love No Matter What

“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.” ~ Dalai Lama

“This life is yours. Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well. Take the power to love what you want in life and love it honestly…Take the power to control your own life. No one else can do it for you. Take the power to make your life happy.” ~ Susan Polis Schutz

Love in hard times

“Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Appreciate you friends. Continue to learn. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.” ~ Mary Anne Radmacher

Love What You Do

“Love is shown in your deeds, not in your words.” ~ Fr. Jerome Cummings “..if you take pains and learn in order to get a reward, the work will seem hard; but when you work..if you love your work, you will find your reward in that.” ~ Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy

Love Letting Go

“We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

“If we continue to think and live as if we belong only to different cultures and different religions, with separate missions and goals, we will always be in self-defeating competition with each other. Once we realize we are all members of humanity, we will want to compete in the spirit of love.” ~ Muhammad Ali

This then is the power of love! We love, because He [God] first loved us.

  2. I have trouble commenting on posts about your God and don’t wish to offend anyone – I did enjoy the quote from Dalai Lama though. 🙂

    • Thank you Tara! 🙂 I agree that love isn’t always easy but it is definitely the right thing to do. The humanness inside of us would try to use reason and logic versus that truth of “loving others in spite of.” Great contribution. I also trust that you had a great Valentine’s Day!

    • Oh absolutely Wilma. God’s love must take precedence over self love. It is the order in which true love will be allowed to flow through us here on earth. I am so happy you took the time to stop by. God bless you.
