Being Your Own Story Is Branding You For Success

“The theme you choose may change or simply elude you, but being your own story means you can always choose the time. It also means that you can invent the language to say who you are and what you mean.” ~ Toni Morrison

I cannot think of another person on this earth that I would want to be other than myself. Not that I am alluding to being better than others, but my train of thought and my point of reasoning is summed up here in Toni Morrison’s quote. In addition, no one else can tell my story better than I can. I believe that in being me and being my own story, I am also creating my own brand for success. Every day I want to do better and be better than I was before.
Likewise, you are the only one who can tell your story. Whatever brand you choose, it must be one that is crafted and built by the words that you speak and the time in which you choose to say it so that success becomes the inevitable fruit of your thoughts.

Here are a couple of other things you may want to consider.

  • Balance your life through prayer and meditation before you attempt to do anything else for the day.
  • It’s a privilege to be awakened each morning – so when you do, be grateful and resolve to be happy.
  • Next to our Creator, nothing or no one else is more important than you are.
  • Take no thought for your life on the morrow, for the morrow will see for itself. In other words, do not worry! Position yourself for greatness!
  • Let your thoughts be consistently positive and you set the tone for each of your day.

This quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson makes it among my best loved and a home run:-

“To get up each morning with the resolve to be happy is to set your own condition to the events of each day. To do this is to condition circumstances instead of being conditioned by them.”

By your words, you choose the theme and set your own condition. Carefully and cautiously articulate the language you speak for your own unique brand.

Here is another thought that resonated in my spirit from a post I wrote January 3rd 2013 entitled: You R Your Own Success Story, Tell It!

“Be an inspiration! Leave motivation with the last person you conversed with so that they too would want to get up and do something better with their life because you touched their heart and soul.” ~ Yvonne I Wilson

What’s your train of thought?

Persist in the train of thoughts that result in a positive outcome, for thoughts whether good or bad, cannot fail to produce their matching results.

From a biblical standpoint, out of the abundance of the heart, a man speaks and by those same thoughts, he direct his life. Moreover, as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. The condition of a man’s heart, gives a very clear indication of his character and his intentions. Likewise, a man’s character and his intentions are directly related to the present condition of his heart.

The principle is simple.
You think and speak language that denotes success, you become successful.
You think and speak language that denotes failure, you become a failure.

It is true that none of us can directly choose our circumstances, but we can choose to train our thoughts and without fail, indirectly shape our circumstances.

Even if you do not realize it, success is at your front door. Your character is a sum total of your thoughts and what you have purposed in your heart to become. A simple law of attraction is this – you attract into your life who you are and much of it have its roots in your thoughts. When a man suffers, it is often times the effect of wrong thoughts and an indication that the individual is out of harmony with the Law of his being.

I will again revert to biblical principle that says in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV)

Clearly you can see, being your own story, is truly branding you for success. It is part of God’s wonderful plan for you and I. Purpose in your heart then to have this same attitude and mindset as the one who has revealed His intentions once again of how our life should be.

Final thoughts….

In conclusion, I quote, “Let a man cease from his sinful thoughts, and all the world will soften towards him, and be ready to help him; let him put away his weakly and sickly thoughts, and lo, opportunities will spring up on every hand to aid his strong resolves; let him encourage good thoughts, and no hard fate shall bind him down to wretchedness and shame. The world is your kaleidoscope, and the varying combinations of colours, which at every succeeding moment it presents to you are the exquisitely adjusted pictures of your ever-moving thoughts.” ~ James Allen Author of As a Man Thinketh

Change your thoughts, so that you can change your language and ultimately change your life into one that is branded for success!

  1. I am glad that you found this article useful and one that you can apply to your life…great pointers you've also made – adding more value to the discussion. Thank you and continue to be blessed!

  2. Yvonne, this is a great article of yours. It's very true. There is a saying in psychology that “saying, is believing” so if you say it, you make it so. This goes for success and failures. You have to claim it, in order for it to be yours.

I love the idea that our story is branding for our success. It turns to pointer back to us as to what we define success to be how we want it defined. The hardest part is convincing ourselves that we have or we have to work for that, and it starts with something very simple as waking up on the morning and knowing that it's a privilege to wake up–it's not a right.
