Prayer for When You’ve Lost Someone

prayer for loss of loved one

It is comforting to know that God is always there in every life’s situation. Our prayer today is for those who have lost a loved one, family, friend or associate…

May knowing you’re in the hearts and thoughts of others help you and yours through this time of sorrow. Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer. Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back be in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

The sorrow of the faithful is not that of permanent loss, bu the tender sense of sadness that comes in saying good-bye for now to someone we love. May today’s sorrow give way to peace and comfort of God’s love.

May the God of peace flood your heart, mind and entire life with His peace that passes all understanding. As your heart search for answers as to the reason for the loss of your loved one, may you not blame but that your faith in God is elevated and strengthened.

May you find strength in God as He become the glory and lifter of your head, and give you the courage, determination and fortitude to face each coming day, in Jesus name, amen.

  3. Such a beautiful post! Losing someone close to me used to completely devastate me- I have lost my father, grandparents, and two of my closest friends. I know this may sound silly to some, but I have found a lot of peace by reading about other people’s near death experiences…. “Heaven Is For Real,” is one of my favorites, and my latest favorite is “Held By The Hand Of God: Why Am I Alive” by Joe Laws http://heldbythehandofgod.com/. Their stories, as well as prayer and reading my scriptures, gives me confirmation that we will see our deceased families again.

    • Hi Liz, I am so happy you stopped by and that you connected with this post. I must say that we all deal with the loss of our loved ones in different ways. Having lost both of my parents, my grandparents and other close relatives, I can identify with what you are saying. It brings comfort and healing when we realize that we are not alone with our loss and grief and that others feel the pain, they shed tears and we are able to comfort them by the same way we have been comforted.

Thanks for sharing the link. God bless you and do come again. 🙂
