Be Strong and Courageous, God Is With You
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so shall I be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”
There are many scripture verses in the Bible that stand out for me as I read the word of God, but none so compelling as this – given to Joshua right after the death of Moses. Joshua was Moses’ successor and God’s instruction to him of the way he should conduct his life going forward was clear.
God also wanted Joshua to understand that he had a purpose, that he was an extra-ordinary leader called to an honorable position, and the one whom God Himself hand picked to lead the children of Isreal into the promised blessing. God’s reassurance of His presence with Joshua and the Israelites meant that they could settle in the land without having to wonder whether or not they would have Him by their side as their shield and defender.
v2 Moses My servant is dead. So now arise [take his place], go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land which I am giving to them, the Israelites. v3 Every place upon which the sole of your foot shall tread, that have I given to you, as I promised Moses.
Here you have the territorial boundaries and borders being laid out as being ‘every place upon which the sole of your feet shall touch.’ It was certainly an inheritence befitting of a king. Who could contest it?
Indeed it was a great encouragement to Joshua in beginning his work that he was sure to see it finished, and that his labour would not be in vain. It called for complete trust and dependence upon Almighty God. It was necessary for him to commit to God’s saving grace through his diligence in meditating and following carefully the statutes and the laws of God.
This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” ~ Joshua 1:8
BE STRONG AND BE OF GOOD CHEER
Just like Joshua, you too may have been called into a position of leadership or it could be that you have just taken up a new job position. I say to you this day,
- Be of good courage, be of good cheer for God is with you.
- Do what is written in the word of God and pray without ceasing – your obedience to God’s word not only honors Him, but causes Him to work miraculously in your favor.
- Meditate on His word day and night, without exception and without compromise.
- Have a respect for all of God’s commands, even to those that are most displeasing to flesh and blood.
Those who make the word of God their rule and conscientiously walk by that rule will entitle you to the best blessings after which you shall find that you shall have good success in the land and God giving you the desires of your heart.
For more encouragement, pray this PRAYER with me.
