An Easter Call to Action

Easter-Call-to-Action

By Kalley C [Kalendy M. B. Chiu]

Palm Sunday sometimes feels like the rise before the fall.

Jesus rides into town, and everyone cheers for him.  He is loved, and people are glad and excited to receive his company.  Palms are laid at his feet, and waved in the air.

During the same week (Holy Week), we experience his death.

The same people who were once with him are now asking demanding for His blood.

One of His disciples betray him, and another one denies ever knowing Him.

Today, we will experience His death.

This coming Sunday we will relive His resurrection.

It is through His death, we receive new life.

But what if….

  • We use this time to forgive all those who have wronged us in the past.
  • Let go of past hurts, and let go of grudges, and promise ourselves to no longer to be plagued by those feelings.
  • We use His resurrection as truly a means for a new life for ourselves.

You see, we can have Easter dinner, and we can celebrate His resurrection.  However, are we celebrating our chance at new life again?

Are we planning on going about our daily lives the same way we have before reliving His death?

This Easter, I urge all of us to:

Use this time as our do-over.  He died on the cross to forgive us our sins.  Let us forgive those who wronged us in our lives, and truly move on.

Let this be our rebirth.  Every January 1st we make promises on what we will do.  Let Easter be January 1st for our spiritual lives.  Let us move forward with Christ in our lives and hearts, so that we may grow with Him.

Walk with faith.  We grow in faith and love not through all the great things that happens to us, but through the trials of life that we end up facing.  It is during these trials that we must get on our knees and pray for guidance, and know that He is with us.  Always walking by our side.  These are times we must learn to walk by faith.

Let us use this Easter as a beginning for our lives, and a beginning to touch other lives, the way that Christ has touched ours.  Not just through our words, but through our actions and deeds.

Let this Easter be a new beginning for all of us.

  1. Kalley, I like how you have given us some practical ways to use the season of rebirth and resurrection. It’s always great to reflect upon what Christ has done for us but also important to see how what he has done empowers us to see change in every day lives. Have a great Easter.

    • Thank you Wanda. Christ was truly a great teacher. Not only has he pointed us in the right direction, but he has gone that way before us. All we must do is follow.

  2. Thank you for all your kind comments and prayers! God Bless!

Hope you have a Good Easter 🙂

  3. Thank you for this thought provoking post Kalley, to call us to action, primarily to use this time to forgive those who have wronged us just as Christ has done for us through the shedding of His blood upon the cross. It’s interesting too how you made that analogy between January 1st and the season of Easter and to implore us to use the latter as the time for our re-birth.

Our re-birth will indeed come through forgiveness and repentance for sins. It is like being born again, and having the old things die and allowing Christ blood to do the spiritual cleansing and to make us new and whole again. I am encouraged by this to take action in my own life and to pray that God will so grant others the grace to do the same.

Great post! A blessed day and a happy Easter to you and family!

Thank you so much Yvonne! This time of the year is truly my favorite. it’s the time where churches invites new converts with open arms. It truly is the rebirth of our spiritual selves, and it’s a great way to start us on our right path.

I wish you and your family a Happy Easter!
