A Powerful Identity Within!

“Faith is taking the first step even if you don’t see the whole staircase.” – Martin Luther King Jr. “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness…” (2 Corinthians 12:9) There comes a time in the life of every person that the true identity of who you are within will tell your consciousness that “you are capable of much more than what you are doing.” It is at that crossroad that life confronts death and they both engage in a battle. Death throws its first punch at you and you are knocked down, you gasp for air but then you raise your head up and you pause for a moment. Then seemingly willing to succumb to death you begin to wonder if you heard right in the first place. You question yourself, “did I really hear the voice of God?”

A moment of doubt and fear creeps in and you then try to wrestle with that voice of purpose and calling. You may even find the boldness to say to that person, “just be quiet, I am comfortable with where I am!” That’s because for so long you heard the voices that said, “you will never amount to anything.” You may have even had your business ideas and the hopes of making it among the top entrepreneurs in the corporate world dashed in an instant. All because someone else just didn’t see it the way that you did.

It was in that very moment in time of my being in the valley of disappointment, despair and hopelessness with tears flowing down the river banks of my cheeks that God’s Spirit grabbed a hold of me. My first reaction really was to throw myself a big old pity party. But then He helped me to understand that commitment to self and the dreams of becoming what He has created me to be means that I must first have a commitment to remove all weaknesses, doubts and fears within. Commitment to self also means having to take off the mask, and uncovering my nakedness and imperfections before the world that they may see who I am, and not the mask that hides my flaws. It means having a clear recognition  of my own weaknesses, while at the same time not letting go of the dream that He Himself has placed within me.

It also means to have a clear vision for one’s own progress and perfection, and not measuring myself against the standards which the world has set but the standards by which He has clearly outlined for me according to His word. This will then create a powerful identity within that will enable me and others around me to do away with weaknesses.

The powerful identity within you says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me..” (Philippians 4:13) It has the full thought and the mind of God that you and I are equipped to do the supernatural things in the natural world. Your true identity within knows and affirms, “My destiny depends entirely upon the choices that I make today and so I choose to move by faith in God and not by what the natural eyes can see.” (YIW) Let this day be committed to removing the weaknesses within that is creating an obstacle not just for yourself but for others.By so doing, you are helping others to create a positive influence around in which there can only be positive growth.
