In Part 1 of this article the main key point looked at was the frequency which we ought to forgive those who have trespassed against us and in the even that we do not, how destructive it could be. In addition to the word of God, I have found out from my own personal experiences that forgiveness is the right thing to do physically, spiritually and socially. God also expects, or demands those of us especially who received incredible mercy from Him, to afterwards show mercy to others by forgiving them just as He has forgiven us. To say you can’t forgive is to show yourself already completely destroyed by the adversary, the devil.
Why Forgive? – Forgiveness Is A Necessity
Physically the quality of your life will be much higher, your body healthier and your attitude highly positive. This is possible because when you forgive, anger, anxiety, depression and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms are all reduced while hopefulness about life and the future and ones’ self-esteem are drastically increased. Your immune system will be strengthened through forgiveness, and there will be a drastic drop in the stress hormones circulating in your blood. You are very likely to enjoy a decrease in your blood pressure levels and your overall demeanour and other negative emotions changes with forgiveness. Without a doubt, forgiveness is a catalyst to your healing.
Forgiveness is a key part of our emotional and spiritual evolution. It is a condition that Jesus has laid out for us clearly in the word of God. Here is how – ‘To have my own sins forgiven by my Heavenly Father, I must first forgive the ones who have done wrong to me.’ ‘To have your sins forgiven by God our Heavenly Father, you must first forgive the ones who have done wrong to you.’ It is as simple as that! It is like saying, if you and I want to be free from our past hurts, pains, bad experiences we’ve had with others in our past, we must forgive them in order to be free to move forward into our future! The doorway of forgiveness must be kept open, so that now and even in the future, we still forgive ourselves and others.
Spiritually, forgiveness affirms what our faith requires us to do. It opens up the doorway to the releasing of blessings into our lives. It is a natural heart cleanser and is detoxifying to both soul and spirit. It empowers us to move on in the faith from our past. It opens up spiritual prison doors, unties chains and breaks the shackles of the mind. To forgive is an act of love and worship toward God. It is a morally good thing to do.
Socially, forgiveness leads to an improvement in personal relationships with our family members, our friends and community. Because of its’ ability to cut through anger, resentment and disappointment, forgiveness gives everyone involved a brand new start! It turns out to be mutually beneficial due to the fact that with forgiveness we are less likely to carry our anger into other situations, and especially into relationships with others. We are less likely to displace our anger onto those who really do not deserve such treatment. Forgive yourself first of all, and forgive others! Only that can liberate us from a painful past to a brand new future.

Thank you for stopping by Janelle. I do value your contribution. It is a joy to know that you have found peace and most of all liberty through being able to forgive yourself. Blessings!
EMoments it is so good that you have mentioned forgiving yourself. I could not understand it for years even after I had forgiven others, I was still so bitter and angry on the inside…It was only after a while that the Lord showed me that I needed to forgive myself and accept responsibility for the role that I played in those situations. It was only after I did that I felt the release in my spirit to be free and move on in life! Great post!
