Don’t Just Sit There….Get Up And Do Something

“The basic thing is that everyone wants happiness, no one wants suffering. And the happiness mainly comes from our own attitude, rather than from external factors. If your own mental attitude is correct, even if you remain in a hostile atmosphere, you feel happy.” ~ Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama
We are living in a technologically advanced era where I believe that the opportunity for self-improvement and self-advancement are right there at our finger tips. There is no shortage of the resources that will enable anyone who so desires to jump start his/her life one way or another and bring that “wow” moment. But the truth is, it is not always that easy and as some would say, ‘easier said than done.’

There are those occasional moments when you will feel stuck in a particular place in your life. There are those awkward times, you will feel lost – and you tell yourself you can’t believe that this thing is happening to you. You’ve probably read all the ten steps guide to a happier new you and how to be successful in life.

You may have even exhausted yourself going to workshops, conferences and you may have been fortunate enough to have a mentor speak over your life repeating the same lines you’ve heard twenty times before, that it’s going to work out for your good.

But what do you do when those rare moments arise when after all you’ve done and been through, you still feel stuck? Do you just sit there, do nothing for the time being as you scratch your head trying to figure it out or do you get up, assert yourself, even become aggressive if that’s what it takes?

Life goes on…

One way or the other, get up and do something and tell yourself, things will definitely turn in your favour. You’ve also got to understand that you are not the only one experiencing challenges and difficulties – someone else is going through much worst than you are.

Notwithstanding all of that, you’ve got to still look on the bright side of life and tell yourself you were born for such a time as this. You have what it takes. You have gifts and talents that companies and investors need and will pay large sums of money for. Get the help you need from someone to help you put your resume’ together. Maintain a positive outlook, regardless of the circumstances that you may be faced with at this moment.

It’s okay to feel that sense of hopelessness and to feel lost at times on your journey in life. It is not even so much that you are ‘going through’ a rough time, it is really more about you maintaining the right attitude and to keep a positive outlook on the situation.

What choice are you willing to make?

For me, I am determined to hold on to the promise and wait until my change comes. I refuse to stop in the middle of the track from running the race set before me, and then go sit by idly and pretend that I not serve a God who is BIGGER than any problem, difficulty or challenge that I’ve ever seen. God is faithful and He will make the promise become reality. It takes faith in God. Without faith, it is impossible to please Him. It is your faith today that will move God, to act with haste on your behalf.

Be happy, be positive! Your destiny is more than just a dream – it’s your life, it’s reality!!!

Yvonne is a positive thinker, a catalyst for change, and a conduit through which holistic healing takes place and destiny is fulfilled. Her ministry through her blog, Empowerment Moments, came at a very low point in her life and was born out of much adversity, persecution, physical abuses, and rejection to the point of her being suicidal. She was left feeling defeated and shrunk back by fear. But through some miraculous means, God has given her pain purpose and a unique voice through which He speaks to touch the untouchable, to reach the unreachable and to empower, inspire, motivate, encourage and uplift the hurting and spiritually wounded to bring about healing and wholeness - mind, body, soul and spirit, one person at a time.

  1. Hi Janelle
I am in total agreement with you that the word of God is there to steer us in the right direction – His word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our pathway. I am convinced that God never gives us more than we can bear, and the fact that He gave us something to bear, means He also already have the solution to it.

  2. The frustration is there at times but so amazing how God sends His word to steer us in the right direction while still managing to keep a positive attitude. Thanks for this share.
