Who’s That Lady?

The Isley Brothers sang a popular song back in the day, which people danced to, snapped their fingers and bobbed their heads to. We didn’t know particularly who they were referring to, but we liked the beat! The song “Who’s That Lady?” became a theme song back in 1964. In the Bible, it talks about a” lady” who had a blood disorder for a long time. Luke 8:43 says “A lady in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding, and she could find no cure”.
Now how do you think she felt as a woman? How about uncomfortable, embarrassed, or ashamed, and the list goes on and on. Leviticus 15:25-29 (NLT) says “If a woman has a flow of blood for many days that is unrelated to her menstrual period, or if the blood continues beyond the normal period, she is considered unclean. Remember she couldn’t even be with her husband; and she missed out on a lot of those “all white parties”. This “lady” spent all she had on doctors and specialists, to try to put an end to this ongoing disease, but nothing happened. Instead of getting better she grew worse.
Spending all your hard earned money and “hoping” that you can get rid of something that had been hanging around for years can be very discouraging. The lady got so frustrated that she finally said “enough is enough”. She put her foot down and decided that she would no longer be bound by a “blood disease “any longer. One thing this lady did have was “tremendous faith”.
James 2:17 says “Faith without works (action) is dead” is what she stood on. After all the doctor’s visits, and buying medication for this sickness, her trust was always in God. She had to do her part and all she could not do God would step in. She believed that one touch from Jesus would make her completely whole. This lady found out that Jesus would be in the area in her town so she believed with ALL her heart, and had faith that if she touched the hem of his garment she would be made well.
She heard about Jesus and immediately went up to him through the crowd and touched his garment. She thought “If I just touch His clothes, I will be healed”. Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she felt it finally be put to an end. Was she happy? Was she doing cartwheels up and down the street? Probably so. She confessed, she believed, she received, and it was so. The same God that healed her back then, is the same God today that can heal you, deliver you and set you free. So “Who’s that Lady?” She could be you, you or you…..
