Remember Not The Former Things But Look To The New #2014

Time goes by quickly, don’t you think? It seems like yesterday, we breathed in the freshness and the fragrance of 2013. And looking back now, there were some things that made us laugh. Yes, they did. In the midst of our happy times though, most, if not all of us can attest to the fact that life took a daring and sudden turn on us that caused our hearts to ache and to be saddened. We grieved about someone, whether it was the loss of a family, friend, a broken relationship or of something that we once held near and dear to our heart. We helplessly fought back the tears and weakened by our fears, we cried.

But not long from now, you and I would bid 2013 goodbye and we would say hello to 2014. And I am most certain, like me, there are some things that you just want to leave behind. It is called letting go of the past in order to press forward into the future of the New Year 2014 and beyond.

For those of you that have been following my blog closely, and as time permitted you left a comment, you would realize how much my blog has been about my personal life story, just as much as it has been a living testimony of what I’ve been able to overcome by the grace of God. It has not been an easy road. But much like the Apostle Paul, I say:

“Brethren, I count myself not to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth into those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 3: 13-14

So with that said, I encourage everyone to put the horrible experiences behind us, forgive and forget about those who made us mad, who disrespected us and who treated us bad. Some may have even looked down on you and I as common, ordinary and insignificant, but to us I say forgive and forget.

For those who choose to sow the seed of hate, revenge and even death, we have a responsibility to sow the seed of love, and to pray for them while we allow God to deal with them and the evil that they do.

On a more personal note, you may not have accomplished all the goals that you had established for 2013, but no need to feel bad about any of it. Re-define those goals and try again. Continue to let perseverance be/come your motto for 2014. And while life lasts and your faith in God continues, He will one day soon crown all your efforts with success.
