There Is Greatness Inside Of Your Brokenness

Have you ever thought to yourself that you have had so many bad experiences in life, or your life is in such a mess with so much brokenness that there is no way possible that God can use you?

To understand fully what I am talking about; think back a little about the biggest blunder you have made in your life. Poor judgement on your part,  right?

Think about your most painful disappointments – the ones in which you know if you had only done things a bit different, things would not have worked against you in that way. Now you live with regret everyday.

How about the sins you just committed,  that’s right, the ones you are so embarrassed about and are doing all that you can at this moment to cover them up.

Well here is the deal, you are not alone and you are not the only one with the self defeating thoughts that there is no good in you that can be used.

Look at the person sitting or standing next to you. Think about your coworker or the person you just passed on the street corner.  They are thinking those thoughts as well.

But the truth is, long before you were born God already knew the path that your life would take. He already knew all of the mess that you would get yourself into. However,  He had the plan even before time began of how He would get you out of it, turn your life around and use it for His glory.

We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God [Romans 8:28]

EXAMPLES OF INFAMOUS BROKEN, MESSED UP PEOPLE GOD USED

Everyday,  there is someone who fit into this profile. Their story is no secret.  It’s all over the news and social media.

The story so big it made it to the front page of the neighbourhood news paper, coffee shop and hair salon. Everyone is talking about it.

Bring it to the home front. Many of us bloggers fit into the category perfectly of being broken and messed up in our lives.

And don’t say, “not me.” Tell the truth, it’s why you started a blog in the first instance. 🙂 I am chief among you. If you have been following my blog, you already know my story.

Everything that I write about here, contains some aspect of my life – either what I have been through already or is currently trying to wrestle my way out of.god-answers-prayers.jpg

THE CITING OF 4 BIBLICAL EXAMPLES

The bible is filled with stories of these people. Speaking of which, they are even directly linked to the genealogy of our Lord Jesus Christ who knew no sin, nor was it even remotely possible for Him to do any wrong. Yet the bible have listed them as His blood family.

1. King David was an adulterer and a murderer, could you imagine that? He had an affair with another man’s wife Bathsheba and had her husband murdered just so he could cover up their affair. That romantic fling produced a child.

2. Tamar was a total ‘hot’ mess. She was seduced by a relative. She had not one but two husbands – both of them total jerks. She lived the life like a harlot. Her story was weaved with trickery,  very  explicit and scandalous. She simply had a very bad reputation.  Yet God found good in her to use. You can read her story in Genesis 38.

3. Rahab was an unlikely character in the bible that God chose to honour despite her infamous profession. She was a prostitute. Her story was known all over the city. But God used her to do the right thing in hiding some godly men in her home from the enemy who wanted to kill them. Rahab’s story can be found in Joshua 2-6.

4. Moses was a cold blooded murderer who killed an Egyptian and then tried to bury the body so he could conceal his crime.  The guy had serious anger management issues. He just did not know how to control his temper. Yet God used him in such a mighty way. He became one of the greatest leaders and writers of all time and penned the first five books of the bible.

The faults of a superior person are like the sun and moon. They have their faults, and everyone sees them; they change and everyone looks up to them. -Confucius

GOD SEES THE GREATNESS INSIDE YOUR BROKENESS AND IS ABOUT TO USE IT FOR GOOD

These and many other stories are proof of how God can weave your faults,  shortcomings,  failures,  mistakes,  fears,  disappointments, hurts, pain and even your sins into His plans for good in your life and the life of someone else. Simply awesome!

No need to hide in the closet what He already has plans for. No need to feel ashamed about what you screwed up on when He already has the plan of escape. Surrender everything to Him because there is greatness inside your brokenness.

TALK IT OVER

  1. Yvonne i need you prayers. I’m a single of two ages 3 and 6. I have no help and no car. Everyday is a struggle to pay a bill and to stay encouraged. Your blog is a blessing. 2. Hi Vernon

I believe most of us think the same way so much so that when God comes to us in our messed up state and reveals His plans, our first response by our reaction says to God, “who me? No way! You got the wrong person. God you sure? Check again, you must have gotten the names mixed up somehow.”

And all the time He is there smiling and saying, “Yes, it’s you that I want. There was no mix up.” 🙂

What an awesome God He is!! Forgiving, merciful, loving and compassionate.

Continue sharing your testimony and let your light shine in the dark places of this world to bring others to the saving grace and knowledge of our Lord.

    Have a great weekend. 🙂

  3. Powerful! You couldn’t have told me years ago in my drug addiction that God would have used what I was once ashamed to admit to lift up others spirit and give them hope. Yvonne I just shared my testimony at church a couple of weeks ago and it still amazes me to see how many lives God touched through me. Thanks for the reminder of how blessed I am! Because if he can use me and can use anyone.

  4. Hi Yvonne,

Really motivational story. Everybody has good and bad experiences in their life. |t is better to leave the bad things and gain with your good experiences.

All 4 BIBLICAL EXAMPLES are really looking inspiring. I would love to read them sometime.

Just never forget that God is always there to help us.

Very inspiring article Yvonne! Thanks for sharing.

    Have a great day ahead.

    • Welcome back Nisha. Always so good to have you.

I totally agree that we gain from our good experiences. That is not to say we push aside the bad as if they never happened. It is just that we should not dwell on them personally and neither should anyone else.

Too many people find themselves stuck on past bad experiences all because of self condemnation or other people constantly putting them down and failing to see the greatness inside.

But so true that God is always there to help us.

Thanks for adding more value to the post. Have a great day. 🙂

  5. Hi Yvonne! I really like your post!!!! i can attest to your writing that God can indeed use us dispite of the mess because man looks on the outward appearance but God looks on the heart. I am glad God is not like man who would try to write you off after you would have made a big mess, but like you rightly said God already knew about our mess before it was even done, even before the very foundation of the world. You mentioned Rahab the prostitute….God skipped over so many “perfect” people and chose her as the bloodline through which our Lord and Savior came. This is why I want to be like Jesus, when the woman was caught in the act of adultry, Jesus said …….”neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.” Let us look through the eyes of Jesus and see the greatness which lies inside of each other. Beautiful post Yvonne….keep them coming.

    • Hi Ava
Thanks for such a beautiful comment. I am glad you mentioned the woman who was caught in the act of adultery because ever so often we are quick to magnify the fault of others completely forgetting that we have our own.

Such a perfect example that He used that situation to remind us that people who live in a glass house should not throw stones.

He is merciful and compassionate and simply want what is best for us. So yes and yes, it’s time to see others through the eyes of Jesus and love everyone through His heart.

Thanks for your support and encouragement. God bless you. 🙂

  6. Hi Yvonne,

It’s what we call an article which can motivate anyone. 🙂

This article will encourage many people to think about their past and present. People don’t live freely and have many problems in their life.

I am amazed to read such type article which make me realize about some great moments I have experienced in my life.
It’s so sad about Tamar about having two husbands. I mean how can they be so rude to her.
In your life you never know the reality behind the scene.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful article. 🙂

    Have a great week ahead.

    ~Ravi

    • Hi Ravi,

So good to see you here. A red carpet welcome to you my friend! 🙂

Thanks for your kind words and review on this article. I am really glad you were inspired by it. I agree it is always good to take a moment to realize how far we’ve come compared to the experiences we’ve had in life. When measured up against the great moments we have experienced, we are left in awe. 🙂

Tamar’s example like all of the others have lessons that we can take from them. Today in our real life, we observe people going along but because we’ve never gotten a look behind the scene, it is not known what they are even going through. Makes good for kindness to those we meet on a daily basis.

Thanks for the great work you are doing to make a difference in the life of others. Have a great day/week ahead.

  7. Hi Yvonne,

Yes, His plans for us are already made, much before we came into this world, yet we always keep struggling, fretting and fuming. I guess we being humans, it’s part of our nature….and being bloggers one does go through the down times so often, besides the other personal issue one faces in life.

I liked the examples you cited as one’s just heard of a few from these, so always good to learn more about the lessons from the Bible. He already knows us so well and if we try hiding ourselves behind our deeds, we cannot hide from Him. Surrendering is the key, though where are we able to do that, but one keeps striving for that – it makes life so much easier that ways, isn’t it?

Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend 🙂

    • Solid points you made there Harleena. The struggling, fretting and fuming we constantly do, life could be made so much easier when we let go of control and surrender whatever it is over to Him. It is a natural tendency where we tell ourselves “I’ve got this or I can take care of this myself.”

I am sheepishly smiling 🙂 because I am so guilty of this, then only to end up making a bigger mess of things.

But thankfully He is not like man and He knows and understands our frailties and always so ready and able to forgive. Surrendering is really the key.

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by and commenting. You bring added value to the community. 🙂
