A Christmas Message Of Hope and Love

[The Birth of Jesus] In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken if the entire Roman world. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. ~ Luke 2:1, 4-5 NIV

Each year we celebrate Christmas, our minds are wrapped around the gifts, the Christmas tree, lights, decorations, parties, turkey, ham, and the whole nine yards. Although I take part by decorating my home and so on, I am getting to the place where I find it to be a major distraction to the message and the true meaning of Christmas.

Don’t get me wrong, it is indeed a joyous occasion. It’s a time of celebration of gift giving and sharing but the truth of the matter, it is really not about us.

Christmas is about celebrating and remembering the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ whose birth heralded a new era of hope and love to us mankind. His birth signified peace to all mankind as He Himself is the Prince of Peace.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of he Lord Almighty will accomplish this. ~ Isaiah 9: 6-7 NIV

In this we find the message of hope where there is no end to God’s peace that came to us through His Son Jesus Christ. It does not matter what is happening with us or around us in the world today, we have that blessed assurance that there is also no end to God’s throne, nor His reign and neither is there an end to His kingdom.

All the gifts, trimmings, decorations, kings and the kingdoms of this world shall pass away. They will fail and be demolished but God’s Kingdom shall remain for evermore.

It is truly a joy in knowing that God upholds His kingdom with justice and righteousness. The Psalmist David reminds us in Psalm 34:9-10 there is no want to them that fear the Lord. He further said that there are those who do lack, the young lions lack and suffer hunger: but those who seek the Lord and put their trust in God shall not go hungry or want any good thing.

If you find yourself in trouble, know that the angel of the Lord encamps around and about them that have a holy and reverential fear of the Lord and God is sure to deliver you. (Psalm 34:7)

As we regain the true meaning of Christmas, remember it is about celebrating the fact that Jesus came into this world to pay the price for our sins through His own blood, to purchase our redemption and to give to us the best give ever and that is the gift of salvation.

Let us bring the focus of Christmas back to our Lord Jesus Christ. He is no more a babe in a manger wrapped in swaddling clothes. But He is our risen Lord and Savior. Even more so, He is our soon coming King.

Today you have the opportunity to unwrap the gift of salvation and receive eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord by accepting Him into your heart as Lord and Savior.

    • Hi Pastor Ava

Definitely, we are to be grateful that our Heavenly Father sent His only Son Jesus to this earth to save us all. It is a time of celebrating the fact that we have abundant life. Today I am certainly renewed in my heart and mind and so glad that this message spoke not only to me but to many others. God bless you. Cheers! 🙂

  3. Hey Yvonne,

It does seem like we have Christmas around the wrong way. The celebration, food, presents, preparation time. And yet we put aside the Lord for all the others stress. If we embrace him he will lighten the load.

I thought the post really bought home that fact. It’s Jesus’s Birthday. That is a celebration in itself.

Thanks for the reminder. We can get caught up in the Christmas festivities. I may even meditate a little longer on Christmas day.

    • Hi Rachel

You are so right my friend and that point you made “If we embrace him he will lighten the load” speaks volume. It resonated with me so much. It is really Jesus’ birthday and that in itself is so significant, we just do not want the message to get lost in the festivities.

Thanks for your valuable contribution. Blessings! Have a great one. 🙂

  4. Hi Yvonne,
you are right, people should not forget what Christmas really means.
These days it seems more a commercial event and starts early.
I am not very in the Christmas event, we celebrate a bit for the kids.
Christmas is also to celebration of the love of god, good to remember this,
    not only on Christmas 🙂
    Thank you

    • Hi Erika

S happy t see you. I totally agree with you that Christmas is so commercialized as of late. There is so much spending that goes on as marketers make their products more and more appealing.

For years I focused on my kids with Christmas tree and everything that comes with it but even now that they are grown I still find myself doing all I used to do when they were little. But certainly there is a need for the reminder of what Christmas is all about.

Thanks for stopping by and do have a wonderful week .

  5. Hi Yvonne,

Wonderful message with a great thought indeed 🙂

Even though I’m not a Christian and we don’t celebrate Christmas the way you all do, but we do understand the spirit of Christmas and are there to rejoice with our friend’s who celebrate it. Yes, you are right – it’s not only about the festive occasion or about the Christmas tree, gifts, and the shopping – it’s about Christ and all that you mentioned, which we need to remember.

Thanks for reminding everyone about it, and wishing you and yours a very Happy Christmas as well. Happy weekend 🙂

    • Hi Harleena

I am truly blessed by your presence and so glad that you are able to share with us in the joys of Christmas. Even though Christmas is not something you observe or celebrate, I appreciate the fact that you are in agreement that the focal point yes is about Christ. It is about His blood also that knits us all together as the masterpiece of His creation and the work of His hands.

I needed to be reminded of this myself – as I mentioned like I am distracted by all the festivities, shopping, decorating and all that.

Thank you for stopping by and may His peace, love and joy reign in your heart this day and always. Have a great weekend. Cheers! 🙂

  6. Great post!
