Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled – 2016 You Must Pray!
If there was ever a time that I can honestly say that I understand the power of a healthy prayer life, it is now!
Once ago I prayed only when there was an emergency situation in my life, or some trouble came upon me and I needed God’s immediate divine intervention to get me out of whatever turmoil I was faced with. Moreover, at times I never bothered to pray.
Not anymore. That’s because my life changed and I understand the importance of praying without ceasing.
Prayer is an essential part of our daily lives. Prayer is to the spirit man just like the air that we breathe every second of the day is to the physical man to keep it alive and ‘kicking.’
We must never grow weary of praying. It is our duty, a privilege and an honor that we keep up constant and consistent correspondence with God. We sin if we neglect to do so.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 – Pray without ceasing
God knew before hand how much our existence depends on a healthy prayer life. It is the very message that He [God] would have Isaiah to convey to us.
God’s word says, “I will answer them even before they call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers.” – Isaiah 65:24 NLT
It is clear to see that God anticipates the prayers of His people and in return He pour down the blessings of His goodness. He is always in a state of readiness. There is no need to fear. It is useless to give in to worry.
Jesus gives further comfort to His Disciples then and to us all today in John 14:1-3 by reminding us how much we were on His mind and that we should not allow ourselves to become troubled by the cares and despairs of this life. He says,
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” [NIV]
I truly believe this word of comfort is preparation in our hearts for what is to come. Why?
We are on the brink of 2015 and on the verge of entering the New Year 2016. I am certain you will agree that this past year was filled with many tragedies and deaths too many to make mention of.
We were touched by the grief, sorrow and sadness of others, even our own situations that we were confronted with left us at times feeling helpless and hopeless. We had many wounds that bled outwardly, not to mention the ones that bled inwardly.
While there is hope for better to come to God’s people in the near future, sadly, there are secret undiscovered sorrows of which God already know about that will come upon many suddenly. The world is in danger of even greater troubles than we have ever seen and we are in danger of being overwhelmed by afflictions and oppressions.
It is not my intention to cause us to worry but rather my encouragement to all of us is to pray like never before and despite the various challenges that we never give up.
Luke 18:1 NIV – ” Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.”
The Year 2016
Don’ wait until things go wrong – Pray in advance. “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” – Ephesians 6:18 NKJV
Pray for everyone, not just your family – God is pleased by our prayers for others. A blessing also awaits you for doing just that.
“And the Lord restored Job’s losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as what he had before.” – Job 42:10 NKJV
When things are going good, never neglect to pray – Saying “Thank you Lord” is the best prayer that you can offer unto the Lord when things are going well with you.
Pray before you make decisions – The scripture verse that always comes to mind is this, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him [acknowledge him] and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
Whenever you feel burdened, just pray – I can;t tell you how many times this has worked for me. Whether it is one sentence or a long prayer, it matters to God that we bring our burdens and our problems to Him before we take them to anyone else.
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” – Matthew 11:28-29 NLT
I conclude where I started by saying, “Let not your heart be troubled, 2016 you must pray!”

Hi Yvonne,
It’s a blessing to know that God will answer our prayers while we are still speaking them. WOW!
If there’s an area of my life where I can honestly see growth it’s my prayer life. This post is confirmation that God wants me to continue on this path in 2016.
Nicole and I watched War Room the other day and it had me crying throughout the movie because I’m a witness to that’s how prayer works.
I also had so hard times in 2015 but I fought the devil back with prayer. Like I can’t bring a knife to a gun fight, I can’t fight a spiritual warfare with the flesh.
We put on the whole armor on God to protect ourselves from Satan attacks but we fight him back with the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Have a Happy New Year!!
Hi Vernon
Good to see you again after a short while. I am glad to hear that the post is conformation. It’s the way God works that He confirms His word, especially when He wants our undivided attention. He has been speaking to me about prayer and getting deeper into it since some weeks ago. So I do not take this for granted.
Considering this to be the end of the old year and the beginning of a new, I know many will be bringing prophecy of prosperity, increase etc but blessings will come only to those who have been walking in obedience to God.
I encourage you to stay strong, stay in the word, suit up with the whole armor of God for sure and leave the rest to God. I am right now reminded that the battle do not belong to us, it belong to the Lord.
God bless you and family. Happy New Year! Cheers! 🙂
