Power of Gratitude 7 Day Challenge ||Thankful Not To Always Have My Way
Day 2
“We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.” ~ Cynthia Ozick
Here we are with day 2 of ‘The Power of Gratitude 7 Day Challenge.’ And just in case you missed day 1, the primary focus was about thanking God for 2016 and listing other things to be grateful to Him for this year.
Let’s hope that you have embarked on the challenge and is already working on expanding the list of things to be thankful to God for this year.
How many of us have ever literally said, “God I am thankful to you for not allowing me to always have my own way.?”
Now that seems absurd to pray a prayer like that, don’t you think? If we are truly honest with ourselves we either don’t pray that kind of prayer, we hesitate to say the words or when we willingly pray that way, deep in our hearts we secretly wish that we could still have things our own way.
Another truth is that it is human nature to want to be the captain of our own ship. We want to be in control and we hate giving it up to others we know [or don’t know] much less giving over total control to God whom we have never seen for Him to have His way in our lives.
But pause for a moment right here and while you do, ask yourself these questions
Do you give your children everything they ask you for?
Do you let them have their own way every time?
What if God was to allow you to have your own way each time?
What if God gave you everything you prayed for in life?
What if God gave you that husband or that wife?
What if God gave you that new job you were praying for?
What if God promoted you to that position of leadership as you’ve been praying for, have you already learned to submit yourself to others and understand what it means to serve others?
What if God gave you the increased finances right at this very moment in your life?
Do you think you understand financial management principles well enough to manage the money or would you squander it in a short space of time?
What if God allowed you to do or have this, this and that ? Would your life be better or worse off? Do you think you would still be alive today?
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV
What Am I Most Grateful for Today?
Today I am most grateful to God that He do not let me have things my way all the time and that He do not always give me everything that I pray for.
Activity:
Identify one single thing that you prayed or wished for and did not get but can now confidently say, “God I thank you that you did not give it to me because had you given it, it would have destroyed my life.”
Scripture to meditate on:
“All things are lawful but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify.” – 1 Corinthians 10:23 NASB (New American Standard Bible)

Hi Yvonne
I am grateful that I have an awesome guide who teaches me all things.
It is strange when people have their way all the time. It is best to be guided.
Thanks for sharing. Take Care
Hi Ikechi
The Spirit of God is the best teacher and guide that anyone could ever have. We sure would not have our way all the time and we would never go wrong once He is in control.
Thanks for sharing your thoughs. Have a great day/week ahead. Cheers!
