Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You

scripture when dealing with lustThese phrases we hear ever so often in our daily lives, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” We have even heard it said in the word “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” It does not matter how it was said, I believe in the end what really matters is how we would have responded to that situation that was presented to us, for it is the same thing that we would in turn receive, just as we have done for others. Jesus draws a parallel in this brief passage of scripture as He said –

“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was hungered, and you gave me meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in: naked, and you clothed me: I was sick and you visited me: I was in prison and you came unto me.” ~ Matthew 25:34-36
We can do great things for the Lord indeed if only we be willing and avail ourselves to do little things for others.
It is all part of the Great Commission of the work that He has left for us to continue here on earth. He says we are to occupy till He comes. It does not mean being relaxed and comfortable, or simply just occupying a space while here on this earth. The context in which ‘occupy’ was used, it is meant to engage oneself, be busy doing work that one has been assigned to do. Jesus was quite clear about all these deeds and He made no exception to this His word, that is, when we avail ourselves, and willingly do them for others we are dong it as unto Him and the reward promised in the end if we be faithful, is that you are called out from among the crowd to “inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of he world.”

But by far contrast, so much of what we see today, I am ashamed to say, really do not measure up to the standard of this His [God’s] word. Often times instead, Christian believers, look for the reward but have not yet walked in obedience to God. Many look for the crown with the many stars, but have not yet taken up the cross to follow after Jesus. Others look for the prize, but is still not willing to go through the process. Our sons and daughters we continue to loose them to the mental institutions and prison systems through gangs and violence, drugs and alcohol, sexual promiscuity sins such as rape and sodomy, while we are willing to turn a blinded eye to it all, as if making light of the situation as non-existent or some even dare say, that is just another statistic of her son/daughter falling through the cracks.
I cringe as I am writing this word today, almost to the point of feeling nauseous because memories of times past, I realize how I could have been one of those very statistics, had it not been for the grace of God and the voice deep within me coupled with my self determination and tenacious spirit that kept on telling myself, “Yvonne, you are going to make it, you will not become another statistic.” I refused to blame anyone else for my many struggles in life, even though I could not understand, why? Instead, I was thankful for my present that I was able to make it one more day, while I hated my past. I became filled with pride because I refused to trust anyone else but myself. I grew up in the church without a spiritual mother and a spiritual father as some would have it to be. All the years, I never seem to fit in, I felt like an outsider and even an outcast at times. The banks of religious laws and tradition, church systems and policies would time and time again write me off, as if I were a “bad check” that could not be cashed. Whenever it was my turn at the service counter, the blinds were were pulled shut and a sign that said, “sorry we are closed” would immediately go up. But on the contrary, I refused to believe that the central bank of justice and righteousness owned by mercy, grace and truth that paid the price by its full representation stretched out on Calvary’s Cross, had closed its door on me. So, one more time, I got up and dusted myself off and as I turned away to leave, I saw this writing on the wall in the distance that read, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8)……”Do not go away, I have already paid the price and whatever you shall ask in my name, that will I do that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” (John 14:13)

This brief personal testimony was shared not to magnify myself thinking I have done any good, nor was it shared for personal promotion, but simply to illustrate the fact that so many in the body of Christ today are hurting. Many are going around in circles everyday, lost and without a hope because we are too busy with everything else instead of to share the hope of salvation with them. I know this to be true because I was bleeding on the inside for a very long time, but I was able to mask my pain and hurt through the mascara, the lipstick and a neatly powdered face. I smiled even when I am bursting with tears beneath the surface. My bedroom became my prison and fortress and my only place of comfort. I lived in isolation until that day when Jesus came and visited me, He saved me, He healed me, delivered me and set me free, and above all taught me how to love again. First to love Him with all my heart, might, and my strength then others as I had now learned to love myself. He empowered me to forgive and to begin to love others through His heart and to see others how He sees them through His Son Jesus Christ.
The truth be told, there is no dollar value that can be attached or placed on what the Holy Spirit has taught me, but I share this word with you as some basic principles are within it that we can be guided by, knowing that iron sharpens iron. As these principles have strengthened me and helped me to grow tremendously and have matured me in Christ, undoubtedly, they will do the same for you. What I leave with you as my final thoughts are: “Dare to be different! Dare to step up to this great calling of God so that you can begin the re-building process of our nations on the foundation and cornerstones of righteousness, integrity, justice, love and peace in order for the restoration process to begin! Above all, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!”
If you are reading this message and you do not yet know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, today is the day and the accepted time of your salvation. It is appointed unto man once to die but after that is judgement. DO NOT miss this opportunity to visit https://empowermentmomentsblog.com/words-of-encouragement/abcs-of-salvation/
