It’s a beautiful day! There is great anticipation everywhere – the atmosphere is charged, it’s electrifying. The energy flow is unimaginable! People all over the USA are at polling stations in one of that nations biggest presidential races as the rest of the world keenly looks on, hoping that their favorite candidate would win. After all the campaigning over the past several months, all of the hoopla, all of the name calling and the name bashing, the candidates final plea, the tear shed by the incumbent – wow! It all boils down to this one day, November 6th 2012. The deciding vote is in your hand. You have the power within you to make that difference. What will it be?
But all that aside, I awakened this morning to the sound of greatness. That’s right, GREATNESS! It was a tiny whisper, yet loud enough for me to hear, “You Cannot Lock Away Greatness.” This scripture immediately came to mind also that says, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
I would tell you, one of the greatest lie propagated by religious people is that, God is in full control of everything that takes place in this world. The message transmitted in that misconceived notion is that let’s say if someone goes out in the pouring rain at 50 degree temperature and catches a flu, get sick, then it is the will of God for the person to be sick. Maybe God wants to teach that person a lesson. Maybe God this or maybe God that. Some maybe to justify their irrational behavior. The same is said for traffic accidents, natural disasters, acts of terrorism, or any other crisis.
But here is looking at it from this perspective, that you and I have tremendous measures of control, greatness and power that can swing a decision in our favor by just one simple thought, transmitted into action. You have the power to cast a deciding vote today, that will make a big difference in your life for the next four years and beyond one way or another, for better or for worst. You see, that is because deep within the heart of each one of us, there is a wealth of power, potential and greatness that is yet untapped.
You and I have a well spring of resources, God-given skills and abilities the world has not yet seen. You may say, well, “I am at the peak of my career. I have a great job that pays me a very good salary. I am the head of a wonderful growing company bringing in great cash returns. The profits are high which means I get huge dividends at the end of the year. What more can there be for me.”
Well the truth of the matter, there is more! You have the potential to be great, to do great things, and to grow exponentially in your personal everyday life and to grow the economy. Everyday that you wake up, make it a habit of intentional growth for that day. The secret to your success will be determined much by what you have on your agenda for that day, and not what handout someone else may have on their agenda for you.
You have the power of choice! To make the choice that will secure your life for today and for your future. Indeed greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. Contrary to the lies, the deception that the entertainment industry (music and otherwise) and the get rich quick mentality that is being propagated into the minds of our youths that greatness is somehow below the waist or the belt; I dare you, to change your mind set as of this very moment that, greatness is behind your ribcage, (in your heart) and greatness is above your shoulders!
- You have greatness and power within you to choose;
- You have greatness and power within you to engage yourself in self-development;
- You have the greatness and power within you to change the world and make it a safer and better place;
- You have a wealth of great ideas within you that only you have access to;
- You have greatness and power in your dreams, hopes and aspirations – if it did not work the first time then try again!
- You have it all within you!
Over on Wisdom And Life Blog, Chris Jennings Penders said it this way, “…don’t let anyone deter you from your dreams. If you’ve found your passion,…whatever it maybe, follow that passion. Find a way to create your abundance doing it.”
Adding to that thought, I would say to all of us, don’t spend time focusing on your weaknesses, for we all have them. If you spend time trying to please people by focusing on your weaknesses and everything else they claim that is wrong with you, you become average. FOCUS ON YOUR STRENGTHS. Do what you love and love whatever you are doing to make your life better. Focus on what please God as opposed to what please man. God is your re-warder. Every good gift and every perfect gift comes from Him.
