3 Reasons Why It’s Okay To Buy Yourself A Christmas Gift

At the time of writing this post, there are approximately 7 days left until Christmas. For some it continues to be a very stressful time – from hanging the Christmas decorations, trimming the tree, buying gifts for family, friends, and no doubt the special person in your life. And who could forget the office parties and the gift exchanges? There are so many parties to attend. But when all is said and done, still there is something that’s missing. That’s because you’ve checked off the list and every name is there except one! That name is yours! Is that a coincidence? I hardly think so!

Time to stop thinking that because you have purchased gifts for everyone else, that as a matter of reciprocity, that someone else should feel obligated to buy you a gift in return. And even if it should turn out that you are not in a position to buy gifts for anyone this year, here is the deal, it’s okay to buy yourself a Christmas gift and to buy the best! The 3 reasons why it’s okay to buy yourself a Christmas gift:
1. You have worked hard all year long
Perhaps you did not realize, but you have worked extremely hard all year long. Yes, you! You that are reading this post right now! You have braced many storms of life. You have struggled through much hardship, and have traveled through a devil’s hell. You had no idea whatsoever that you would have made it this far because troubles, trials and afflictions were so overwhelming, you considered throwing in the towel and calling it quits.
You have made too many sacrifices. Family commitment – the husband/wife, children, the dog and the cat, you often wondered how much more can you take. But here you are, kept by the grace of God, sustained by His Spirit and now looking forward toward ending your year strong – buy yourself a Christmas gift!
2. You deserve the best
Contrary to what some may think, you deserve nothing less than the best that life has to offer. You deserve the best gift that there is! True that God has given to us His best Christmas gift by way of the birth of His Son Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago, yet He cares that you enjoy His best blessings here upon this earth.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)
3. You are special

I want you to know that you are special! You are God’s masterpiece. You are a one of a kind that cannot e duplicated. You are amazing, you are beautiful and you are extremely talented. Your story of survival is the miracle of life that someone else is waiting on. You are the apple of God’s eyes and He has great plans for your life. Don’t wait for someone else to treat you special, instead realize and understand that you are and treat yourself in that way.

  1. Thanks for the nice comment. The law of attraction is such a simple concept, but it really works. The law of attraction, positivity, being grateful, even happiness itself…it all takes some training. None of those things just fall at your feet. I used to think I would be happy as soon as THIS happens or maybe THAT happens…but that's so not how it works! Dennis Schaal

  2. Hi Khorshed, thanks for leaving a comment. I'm glad that you love my blog and that you find the contents inspiring. Feel free to share it with others as a blessing to them too.

  3. This is such a fantastic post, thank you! It's so inspiring to read about how other people make their dream lives come true. I love your blog by the way, I'm always eagerly awaiting the next chapter. You also can know about Baby books for boys. The presentation of blossoms to a individual's beloved is a romantic habit which brings joy to the person who allows them. An individualized contact would be to send a particular species Custom gifts, or a plant for that issue. There are some companies that actually use a technique where they print a individual's name or concept directly onto the blossoms.

  4. Kalley, great that you made that point of preferring to buy the gift yourself because the giver do not know what it is you've been eyeing. People tend to want to give you anything they want, borderline to inferior.

  5. Pastor Ava, I am so guilty of giving and giving and forgetting myself. Recently I had a 'melt down; and one of the things that came out from self-introspection was that – constantly giving and those that I give to never have anything to give in return. Such good I believe can end up being a “curse.” So guess what? It's time to give to myself!

  6. I agree with this!! 100% I don't stop myself from buying something (reasonable priced). Because like you mentioned, I've worked hard all year! I can't, and won't expect people to get what it is that I liked because they don't know what I've been eyeing.

  7. Minister Yvonne I agree !!! So often we tend to give into the lives of others in the form of time, finances, thoughts, prayers, gifts etc. We unselfishly give and give continuously so much that we tend to forget that there is someone called “Me” We do deserve to be a blessing to ourselves as well. I am glad you reminded me to bless “me.” Thank you!
