Quotes To Get You Through Life’s Difficulties

No one is ever known to have made it to the top or have great success in life without themselves going through struggles and difficulties in life. In addition to those we create for ourselves, life can do that for any of us. I view it like a classroom from which you never graduate from, yet one in which you are constantly provided with the lessons, and the tests, following which, you grow from strength to strength, faith to faith and from glory to glory.

To say life is tough is an understatement. Many challenges are met along the way. Often times the road is bumpy, with rugged, winding and steep terrains that can knock the wind out of your sail. You are tempted to give up and throw in the towel. Here is where I believe you and I will need strength, inspiration and encouragement to help us along the way.

1) Problems and Possibilities
“People will do almost anything to avoid problems. They see a challenge and they run…the secret to success,  my friends, is not to try to avoid or get rid of or shrink from your problems; the secret is to grow yourself so that you are bigger than your problems.” ~ T. Harv Eker

The truth be told, there are no shortage of problems in the world today. There are problems in the home, on your job, problem with your friends, your spouse, and kids who just act up, play the fool when you least expect it. Yet I concur, no problem is insurmountable.

With each problem that you face, there is twice as much for possibilities. Look on the bright side of life and never allow what you are going through to be projected through your mouth as negative energy. Use the opportunity to speak life and believe what you cannot do now, it is a sign from God of what you shall be able to do hereafter. Become a transformer rather than an enabler to the problem that only results in more pain and discomfort. It is not until your words are aligned with your thoughts that you are able to overcome and reach your desired goals.

2) Acceptance and Attitude
“…the greatest part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances.” ~ Martha Washington 1731….”we must accept life for what it actually is–a challenge to our quality without which we should never know of what stuff we are made, or grow to our full stature.” ~ Ida R. Wylie

When the rubber meets the road and when the going gets tough, you’ve got to keep pushing your way forward. Acceptance and attitude must become your next disposition, not the problem nor the circumstance. Acceptance is by no means your submission to what is taking place, it is acknowledging the facts of your situation, whatever it may be.

You cannot dwell on the past or even the now of what you are experiencing. What you must realize is that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. He knows the way that you take. It is beautiful no matter what because God have a way of making all things work out in the end for your good and for His glory. Listen to your inner voice, it is also a form of accepting that which you cannot change. Give thanks in everything and once you accept your limits, eventually, you can go beyond them.

3) Responsibility
“Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibility…In the final analysis, the one quality that all successful people have is the ability to take on responsibility.” ~ Michael Korda “You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is something you have charge of.” ~ Jim Rohn

Accepting responsibility shows that you are in charge and in full control of your thoughts. There is no point in worrying about what is past because no one by worrying can change or even add a minute to their life. You have the perfect moment to begin working on yourself and changing things about you.

Move away from the unfavorable situation and give yourself the time to heal and to be strengthened in the inner man. Ask yourself the simple questions as how do you want to see yourself living going forward then move with purpose and with intention to change.

You have a responsibility to set meaningful goals for your life. Again ask questions such as where do you see yourself one, two or five years from now. Remember life is a journey of faith, so never allow yourself to complain and murmur about how strong the wind is or how the the ball bounces. Know that you have the potential for greatness, the price however of greatness is responsibility.

4) Integrity and Ethics
“Keep true, never be ashamed of doing right, decide on what you think is right and stick to it.” ~ George Eliot… “Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted

Integrity and ethics goes much further than what is happening around you or what is happening on the inside of you. It is who you are. It is very easy to slip away from these values when you are going through turmoil and difficulty. But no matter what the turmoil may be, remain true to who you are. Exercising ethical behavior in such extreme difficulties will allow you to remain in alignment with your purpose. Integrity on the other hand allows you to follow through on what you say you are going to do. Building your credibility over time then will rely largely upon the history of what you speak and the actions which follows.

5) Humility and Hope
“True humility – the basis of the Christian system – is the low but deep and firm foundation of all.” ~ Edmund Burke…”Hope sees the invisible, feels the intangible and achieves the impossible.” ~ Anonymous

Whether going through difficulties or not, a fundamental premise from which all people, especially Christians must operate from, is humility. To say the least, these are Christian virtues. True that you may want whatever it is to pass in the quickest possible time. You may even try to circumvent the process and look for short-cuts. Also true that you want to win, regardless.

Nonetheless, remain faithful and true to the end. Life is precious, it is fragile and it is too short for you to throw up your hands, and surrender to defeat. The very least that you can do to lessen the impact of your situation is to figure out the many things there are to hope for in life. Hope in God. Let your confidence be in Him. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers them from it all. It may not be when you want it to, but your deliverance will come.

Wrap up..

Samuel Smiles once said, “Hope is the companion of power, and mother of success; for who so hopes strongly has within him the gifts of miracle.”…”We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope.” ~ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

So lift up your head, and never ever talk defeat!

  6. Hi Myne:
I've learned that transitioning into new dimension and realm of power, greatness & bigger things usually comes with pain, tests and trial of your the end, once the spiritual storm' blows away, & the sun begins to shine again, you can beam with joy of what you have come through that if not for God on your side & if not for His favor upon your life, you probably would not have made it.

  7. I totally agree with you Ava. Just yesterday I shared with one of my daughters that God do not allow tests and trials to come to us so as to destroy us, but to provide us with the opportunities to draw closer to Him, to build and strengthen us, while we become more importunate in our prayer life.

    Be blessed!!

  9. Indeed life is filled with ups and downs and one must be able to learn the art of picking oneself up after facing a low period. I often remind myself that it is not a sin to feel discouraged but whenever that time comes my perspective of the situation is what matters most as this will either help me to arise or stay down. Staying down is when it becomes a sin causing me to become defeated and arising makes me victorious. Beautiful post Minister Yvonne!
