11 Simple But Powerful Daily Prayers You Pray

One of my favorite bible verse is found in James chapter 5. It speaks about prayer and how effective it is in healing and restoring the sick whenever we commit ourselves to praying, not just for us and our family members but for others.

The verse that I am referring to is this “..confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offences], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man ( believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God – it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].” ~ James 5:16 Amplified Bible

A few things we can take away from this scripture are –

1. It is biblical and healthy to confide in others and share our offences and our mistakes with that individual so that we can be prayed for and be restored and healed from the malady of sin.
2. Our prayers must be heartfelt and persistent
3. The prayer of a believer and someone living right with God has great power as it is working and is something to be reckoned with

Now the questions we must ask ourselves – do all prayers have to be a certain length or duration in order for them to be effective? Does God have a keener sense of hearing the prayers only of those who pray for 1 hour, 2 hours or even 3 hours?

What does God say about repetitive prayers? Are repetitive prayers necessarily heartfelt and persistent?

Here’s one possible answer to these questions, “And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, because your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” ~ Matthew 6:7-8 (NIV)

The Message Bible (MSG) says, “The world is full of so called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They’re full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need.” ~ Matthew 6:7-8

What am I getting at? Prayer may be long or short, by yourself or in a group, prayed silently or aloud, but must be a true communication with God and not done in a way as to gain public recognition and praise.

Additionally, prayer that is short as one sentence is just as effective or even more so than prayers that are long, drawn out and repetitive. I have proved the former for myself time and time again as I pray throughout the day and trust God to answer my prayer.

Here are some simple but powerful prayers that you can pray on a daily basis. Not only will you see result but you will be drawn closer to God.

1.) Dear Lord, I surrender my will, my plan and my ways to you and ask that you be my Lord and take full control of my life this day, amen.

2.) Heavenly Father, keep me in perfect peace and keep me from sinning against you today. Grant me the power to resist evil and temptation in Jesus name, amen.

3.) Lord fill me with your Spirit and transform me. I receive your gift of hearing that I may hear and obey your voice, amen.

4.) Lord grant me wisdom today to speak only the things that edify, encourage, motivate, inspire and uplift others to the glory and honor of your name, amen.

5.) Dear Lord I avail myself to you today and ask that you make me more like your Son Jesus Christ. Conform me more to His image and give me godly character. Amen

6.) Father God I trust you to provide protection over me today and to keep me safe from harm and danger in Jesus name, amen.

7.) Lord keep me in your perfect will, order my steps in the way you would have me to go and let your government increase in my life today, amen.

8.) Lord I give you my weaknesses, my limitations and my shortcomings and ask that you let your strength be made perfect in me once again. Abide in me and help me to abide in you, amen.

9.) Dear God every area of my life that is out of alignment with your word and your will, I ask that you bring those things to order so that I am fit and ready for service in your Kingdom, amen.

10.) Father God work through me once again to touch the lives of others, to lift up the fallen and downtrodden, to draw sinners and backsliders to you to experience the power of your saving grace, amen.

11.) Lord I pray for peace in the world today. May I not become distracted by wars, rumors of war, and strife among men but to stand firm in the faith knowing that just as Jesus overcame tribulations, that I too will overcome and live in His perfect peace, amen.
