Joyful Living With God’s Assurance of His Protection

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” ~ Psalm 27:1

There are many people around the world who are living in fear today. It’s not just the unsaved who are fearful. Many who call themselves Christians are also living in fear.

Looking back at the recent terrorists attacks and the current threat that is looming in major big cities, it is easy to see how we are becoming a nation of fearful people. People who are afraid of dying, of being alone, of losing their mind, and some are even fearful that they will commit acts of suicide because of all the hell they have gone through on this earth in their lives.

But if we look in God’s word [Bible] carefully, it is filled with promises of comfort, hope, courage and protection for those who love Him and who trust Him.

Today we can come to the Scriptures and find peace in the midst of our storms, strength in the time of our weakness, joy where there is sadness and grief, and encouragement when we feel burdened and discouraged.

Psalms 27:5 says, “For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me upon a rock.”

Here is God’s promise that whenever there is trouble, He Himself will hide us and will ‘tuck’ us away safely in His secret hiding place. This is the confidence wherein that God is our defender, our shield, our Buckler, our Refuge and Strength. No need to fear for your life.

Psalm 91:15-16 – He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and shew him my salvation.”

  1. Hi Yvonne,

What an excellent post. Many are living in fear, or they lost someone due to violence, and it seems as if no one takes notice due to all the festivities of the season.

Thank you for this timely reminder that we can turn to God for comfort, hope, courage and protection at any time.

Let this also serve as a reminder to us to reach out to those in need of comfort and support.

Thank you for sharing this crucial message Yvonne.

    Have blessed week,

    Jaco.

    • Hi Jaco

It’s great to see you. I may have done so already but Happy New Year to you and your lovely family. Looking forward to great things in 2016. God wants His people to place all their trust in Him. There is definitely an increase in violence and with that increase comes the uncertainty and fear. But God’s assurance and promises are clear – it is just a matter of getting to know what they are and to start trusting Him more.

Blessings and do have a great week also. Cheers! 🙂
