Finding Faith Amid Disaster – A Prayer For Aurora Colorado Families

Dear God, we approach your throne of grace, a place where we can obtain mercy and grace in time of trouble. We look to you for strength, for courage, for hope, for healing, and for comfort at this time when so many lives have been affected and changed forever by a tragedy that only you have the answers to. Hearts are heavy and touched by grief, spirits are wounded and feeling the pain of a senseless crime, and souls are bleeding as they mourn the loss of their loved ones.

Now Father God, we look only to you because your promise is – blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. So by the power of your Holy Spirit, we ask that you wrap your loving arms about them that mourn, and comfort them Father God. Give them the oil of joy in place of heaviness and sadness. Give beauty in place of the garment of ashes. Cause them to look to you Father, to give peace in the midst of confusion, light where there is darkness and turmoil, and a sense of relief to all of the hurt and pain.

Give them the blessed assurance that with Christ in the vessel, they can still smile at the storm clouds knowing that trouble don’t last always. Wipe away every blood stain and let your river of grace flow through each heart, through the hospitals, city, nation, state and the scene of the tragedy. Let heavenly peace and calm descend upon each one and with the comfort that you are touched by the feelings of our infirmities and our grief.

Remember also the wounded and afflicted who are still hospitalized. And as each heart begin to search for as to the reason for the loss of their loved ones, may persons not blame you, or loose heart in you, but come to know you as Sovereign God. May their faith in you not be devastated or destroyed but be upheld by your Holy Spirit and that it be strengthened rather than weakened as you cause ministering angels to speak to their hearts.

Father we ask that by the power of your Holy Spirit, and the blood of your Son Jesus Christ that you purge the city of evil and demonic forces that led to this senseless act of violence and evil. Purify each heart and let love take the place of hate. Let forgiveness take the place of un-forgiveness of any hardened hearts just as you have forgiven us for our sins. Now thank you Lord for truly you are a present help in times of trouble. You love us and you care for us and for that we say thank you Lord, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. That is so true what you have said Pastor Ava. Blessings!!

  2. Minister Yvonne Wilson….this shows there is no hiding place except under the Blood of Jesus. The only safe place is in the arms of our God. Imagine not being safe sitting with your family in a theatre.
This is indeed the last days. Our prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones.

  3. Appreciate your contribution. There is no time like now than in these last days that we need the Lord more than we've ever needed Him. He is our only hope of salvation.

This is such an unfortunate senseless act of violence. It saddens my heart as it makes me sick to my stomach that something so evil and sinister could touch lives and change them forever. God have mercy upon each soul and those left to mourn their loss.
