The Choices You Can Make And Win

I’ve said before on this blog that life is a sum of all the choices that we make from day to day. Ultimately, our identity is also connected to our choices, whether good or bad. It’s our thoughts, our words and our actions. Our choices can lead us to a life of happiness, on the path to our destiny or a life of misery. In the case of the latter, God’s plan for us however, is abundant life and a new life of hope, and blessings through our inheritance that came about by Christ Jesus.

What is that newness? 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) says, “If any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come.”

The new is that you and I may have our minds renewed so that we think differently, that our words begin to declare who we are and what God says we have been created to become, and our actions are in complete alignment with the word of God. It’s about choosing to align yourself with positive thinkers, dreamers and visionaries who not only hold you accountable but will help you to articulate your ideas and thoughts into positive actions, thereby producing winning results.

With that said, here are winning choices you and I can make that will determine the best possible outcome for our destiny:

1)  You can choose to deepen and strengthen your relationships
Many of us, no doubt because of our past experiences do not get close to persons, especially those of the opposite sex because of the fear of rejection and perhaps fear of reliving the bad memories of the past. But it is that fear of rejection that prevents connection and causes a stumbling block to what could ultimately turn out to be a healthy, successful relationship. Regardless, we must work towards having love as our highest goal (1 Corinthians 14:1a) and even while we work on reaching out to someone new to share God’s love, let’s get rid of toxic relationships.

2)  Choose to place your trust in God, no matter what happens on a daily basis
Getting to that place in your life where you can actually say, “I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall continually be in my mouth” is not an overnight thing. But having that kind of confidence in God is a choice that you and I can make that even when all hell breaks loose in your life, your faith and trust is in God. That’s the attitude that the Psalmist David demonstrated and one that we too must adopt ourselves.

3)  Choose what you allow yourself to think about and to meditate upon
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:2 NLT) “Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:5 ASV) The word of God is sound truth that cannot be denied and it is that which we must feed our brain with so that it produces a positive, humble attitude in our daily lives.

4)  The most important choice that you can make this day is to follow Jesus Christ and have Him as Lord and Savior of your life. He alone can wash away your sins and cast them into the sea of forgetfulness. In Him, you become a new being – the old man with its carnal and worldly mind is put off from you, and that which is entirely new comes.

  3. Hi Mel, a warm welcome first off and thank you so much for taking the time out to visit my blog. I can testify the same as you have done here…faith anchors us in God, He plants our feet upon the solid ROCK. He then gives us the peace that surpasses our understanding. Thanks for authenticating the word. I a m so happy to hear that we are grouped together in the same tribe on SITS. Looking forward to getting to know you better too. Blessings!

  4. Well said! It's so true that what we think on is what consumes our time. I know when I make an effort to be IN God's word and focus on what HE says, my day goes so much better, if at least just in my head. The world can fall apart but if I am anchored in God, I can make it through anything.

We were grouped in the same tribe on SITS. Look forward to getting to know you better!
    Blessings,
    Mel
