Adversity Is Our Teacher
“Even the most daring and accomplished people have undergone tremendous difficulty. In fact, the more successful they became, the more they attributed their success to the lessons learned during their most difficult times. Adversity is our teacher. When we view adversity as a guide towards greater inner growth, we will then learn to accept the wisdom our soul came into this life to learn.”
— Barbara Rose
I tend to associate adversity with perseverance. Both terms I believe are synonymous. Whenever we are going through adversity, we have one of two choices – to persevere or to retreat and give up. For those who persevere, life rewards us with hope, growth and a strong character. I don’t relish the pain that adversity brings. A matter of fact, no one does but at the end of that season, we gain knowledge, we learn valuable lessons and we gain experience.
As Bible teaches, let us therefore run with patience the race that has been marked out and planned out for us and look to the true Light, Jesus, who is the author and the finisher of our faith. A great cloud of witnesses have gone before us…. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
There are great men and women of today who have experienced some major hardships and have withstood the tests of adversity – they are our examples. It is through our difficult moments, and theirs too that our eyes and our heart have been opened to the great light of the Divine.
We know then not to give up, because He [God] is the Divine who will not leave us nor forsake us. He knows the beginning and the end. The process we would all have to go through He already has the foreknowledge of it. The good news, He also knows the outcome and it is all good – for all things work together for good to them that love God and are the called according to His purpose.
Q – What are some of the lessons that you have learned through adversity? Leave a comment and let us know your thoughts.
Adversity is indeed our teacher. When our back is against the wall then we truly know what material we are made of. Indeed the level of our strength is not based what we have or can accomplish but how much we can endure in difficult situations and still wear our smile. It is adversity that will teach us who we really are.
Such a valid entry you have made on this topic Pastor Ava. It is those who endure to the end will obtain the prize. Have an enjoyable day and continue to wear that smile no matter what. 🙂
