Pastor Shot and Killed Over Fake Gold Chain, Two Arrests Made
A South Florida Pastor, Kenneth Johnson, 67, of Power of Faith Deliverance Ministries in Miami, was shot and killed on Thursday evening outside a local market in Liberty City.
Friends and witnesses say that the robbers had targeted a fake gold chain the pastor had around his neck. A struggle broke out and Johnson was ultimately shot and killed.
Meanwhile, the wheels of justice appear to already be in motion: Larry Flowers, 20, and Tyreke Desire, 19, were arrested and charged in connection with the shooting early Friday. Both are being held on bond.
Pastor Johnson’s wife, Latoya, and many who knew him well and are expressing anguish over his death, describe him as ‘a very nice man‘ and ‘a very faithful man who worked diligently to help others.’
“[Johnson] is a type of martyr,” one local man said. “So I think that this death will shake up this area…and I believe that people will come together – justice will be done.”
Latoya Johnson said that her husband will be greatly missed.
“He was my world. He was my world,” she said. “He was a good pastor, a kind, good-hearted man. Why would they do that? Why would they take his life? Just take the chain and go — go home.”

EMB: Condolences to Johnson’s wife, family, friends, congregants and well-wishers. May God comfort and give them strength in their time of loss and grief.

Hi Yvonne. I am so sad to hear this news.
Sad news yes Scott. Having heard how nice a person this pastor was, I’m sure if they had asked him for the chain, he would have given it.
