Things That Blocks You From Your Blessings

There are things that go unnoticed in our daily lives, yet they are the kinds of stuff that are capable of blocking us from possessing our blessings. It varies from one individual to another. However, for the most part, they are the subliminal thoughts that evade and linger in our subconscious mind, intense enough to influence the mental processes or even the behaviour of the individual.

The Bible says in Proverbs 23:7, “For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” What it means then is that the core identity of every individual and their thought pattern is a true reflection of the condition of their heart. If a man’s thinking is shallow, then so will his words and subsequently, his actions. If his thought pattern is negative, it means then that what he attracts into his life will be of equal proportion to the level of his thinking.

There are too many in the world today that are living below what is considered an acceptable standard for a human being, simply because of the way they think. There are too many things that are blocking God’s people from possessing their possessions or the blessings promised, all because they are conformed to some old ideology, traditions and ancient laws that are good for nothing except to keep people in bondage. Ultimately, there is stagnation and setbacks.

What’s Stopping You From Possessing Your Possession?

Misconception or delusion of the ways of God

It is time to move from the sea shore where there is just an idea of God and to move into the deep where you have an encounter or an intimate relationship with God. There are so many things that God has in store for you. You were created in the image and after the likeness of God. You were created to be a living, speaking being and a representation of who He is in the earth. Get to know Him personally – His ways and attributes. God’s ways are not like man’s ways and neither are His thoughts.

Referring to God as ‘the man above’ is a dishonor to the very nature of who God is. It is lowering God to the standard of man as if God is just another one of your buddies, your sugar daddy or the one who is there to hand out food stamps or to fix everything for you when you get into trouble.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways m y ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55:8-9

Fear

Fear is the opposite of faith. It is a spirit that is not of God that gets in the way of you possessing all things that pertains to life and your blessings from our Heavenly Father. Fear keeps you stuck and stagnated.

Pause here for a moment and just think of all the things that you are afraid of – fear of the future because it is unknown and it requires faith; fear of failure and the criticisms that comes with it; fear of being hurt again so you avoid getting into a relationship; fear of commitment so you never possess your good thing [Proverbs 18:22] and never get married; fear of going to an interview so you remain stuck in a job that you hate. But know that God did not give you a spirit to fear.

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, [[afraid, or scared] but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” [sound mind, good judgement] – 1 Timothy 1:7

Change of your confession

You can easily identify those who are believing right by what comes out of their mouth. They create substance and abundance into their life when they speak the word, thoughts and promises of God into existence. They edify, encourage and empower you by what they speak into your hearing. It is the kind of faith that allows that person to speak and believe that their greatest desires in life are already happening for them. [Romans 4:17] Conversely, when you think and speak negatively, your own thoughts and word block you from possessing your blessings. You must revert from negative thought patterns and negative speaking and begin to confess the word of God.

The Bible says in Mark 11:23-24 ESV, “Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Your voice has creative power and a distinct sound in the spirit realm to speak things into existence.

Unconfessed sins in your life

This goes without saying. Sins that you have not confessed and repented of is a blockage to you possessing your possessions/blessings from God. Isaiah 59:2 says, “Your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” Sin not only build barriers and cause you to fall short of God’s standards but it is among the number one thing that stops your blessings.

“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” – Romans 10:9-10 ESV

Giving up hope to easily

There is a quote by Vince Lombardi that says, “Winners never quit and quitters never win.” If you are going to get your blessings, your possessions and inheritance from God, you cannot be so quick to give up as soon as the least of trials come your way. When your faith is being tested, there are only two options available to you, either you give up and accept the outcome, or you push your way through the struggles until you overcome the trial and receive your blessings.

When you want something bad enough you must persevere and endure the hardship like a good soldier. Recall the story of Daniel chapter 10. The Bible says, Daniel went into morning for Jerusalem and he fasted and prayed for twenty one days. God sent an angel from the first day Daniel open his mouth and prayed but there was a wicked prince over the region of Persia who was an agent of Satan. There was an intense warfare between the angel of the Lord and the prince of Persia which caused a delay in Daniel’s blessing.

Daniel never gave up but persisted in prayed, kept his hope in God until finally, the answer came to him. You want heaven’s door unlocked and to open wide with your possessions, then perseverance is your key.

Change is never easy and old bad habits though easily formed, are the hardest things to break. With a few baby steps, the change begins with the way you think. You change your thoughts, you change your words and ultimately, you change your ways. Embracing what God does for you, and what He says about you is the best thing that you can do for Him. Do not become so well-adjusted to your old culture, norms and tradition that you fit into that mould without ever thinking that God must have a better way in His plans for you. Be changed from the inside out, readily recognize what He wants from you and quickly respond to it. [ref Romans 12:2]
